My laptop screen has a big spot!

Earlier I saw a vertical line on my laptop screen. I thought it was due to some error in a program. I reboot my laptop and it was still there. Then after a few days I saw a 2 inch wide vertical stripe in the middle. Now that stripe has extended to the left edge. So it's covered almost left half of the screen. It looks like half the screen is faded. I don't know what to do about it. Do you people have a similar problem? What did you do to overcome it?

For the information you gave, the problem with laptops is a factory defect, it is caused by none type of program. I advise you to see if the warranty is still valid and ask to exchange the product at the store where the lead changed or technical assistance

It's warranty has expired as it is more than 3 years old machine. That means I have to pay if I want to get the LCD screen replaced. Do you have any idea if the LCD screen can be repaired or not? If it can't be repaired, what would be the cost of LCD screen?

You didn't mention how old your laptop was? I recently had my LCD display get a 2 inch vertical bar on it that was faded like you describe. It was still under warranty, so I just got it repaired through warranty. Check the manufacturer. My LCD monitor had a 3 year warranty on it.

It is more than 3 years old and the warranty has expired. I had only 1 year warranty. Did they repaired the LCD screen or replaced it completely?

It looks to me there is a problem in your laptop lcd screen. You better let your supplier or technical friend to check your laptop. If its still under warranty, then great..
Usually these problem occurs due to power failure..try to check power system in your house..^_^
