Do You Prefer A Big, Fancy Wedding?

Is there anyone else out there who doesn't care for a big, fancy, expensive wedding? Anyone else out there who doesn't care for a big, poofy, fancy dress? I'm thinking that if I ever get married, I'd rather have a very small, intimate wedding. I'm not going to go all out on a dress, either. In fact, I probably won't even buy a new dress for it, either. I'll just wear what I have. I hate dresses and skirts anyway, so a nice pair of slacks with maybe a fancy top would be great. Or maybe even have it all totally casual. Oooooh! That might be great! Screw tradition, I say! What do you all think? Would you prefer a small, intimate wedding or the traditional wedding?

I like all out wedding fun. You only get to do it once. Well, in theory anyway. haha. Everyone is different though. You could go for one of those red neck weddings like they show on tv. They look like a lot of fun!

LOL So true about you only get to do it once... in theory! I don't get those people that go all-out with every wedding they have (if they get married more than once). I'm not a traditional type of person, though. If everybody goes one way, I tend to go another. I'm not sure I even want to get married, but that's a whole other topic/matter... Not sure I'd want a redneck wedding, but thanks for the idea. LOL

I had a really simple wedding. I did get a wedding dress, but it wasn't super poofy and the train was almost nonexistent. I only had one bridesmaid, my best friend. She wants to get married in her backyard in bluejeans. Having a simple wedding is great. You can save a lot of money to use later on when you're actually married.

That's my feeling, too except that it's not really all about the money. It's ONE of the reasons, though. I don't think I've ever liked weddings and to me, all that "extra" stuff is just pointless. I guess the dress has some meaning. I know the veil does. That's cool that you had a simple dress, though. I've always liked the simple dresses better than the big, poofy dresses.

I had a big fancy wedding my first marriage, and a small intimate one the second time around. I would go with the small one if I had it to do over.

I don't like big weddings, considering the economic crisis the world experiencing now, having a big wedding creates a trouble to our budget. For couple who are well-off and have enough financial resources, well, big and fancy wedding maybe is applicable, but for ordinary people who tried hard to earn a living, getting married in a simple and solemn ceremony is enough.
