The word Charity has been defined as "The Pure Love of Christ". I do believe that and have tried to live my life accordingly.
In studying about the Charity of Christ I noticed something. Out of all the examples of Him helping and giving, not one is about him giving away a material possession. Scripture gives no examples of Him teaching that charity is a government responsibility either.
His giving was of his time, his abilities and his love.
Nowhere in scripture does it say that he gave away his possessions, nor does it say that he cut himself off from his family's wealth.
I think that if we are to follow Christ's example, then our charity needs to be as His was... of our time, abilities and love for our fellowman. What do you think?
