Dry Heat vs Wet Heat

Will someone please explain to me the difference between dry heat and wet heat. I don't care the level of moisture in the air, Hot is Hot. And right now, it's hot as hell. I have placed my hand in an oven and over a pot of boiling water. Both are hot and unbearable. Am I missing something here?
