I'm trying to figure out who to contact to try to get help for this little boy, Tyler Tucker. He had cancer of the jaw which has left his face disfigured (they had to remove a large chunk of his jaw).
Two reconstructive surgeries, done with bones from his shins, failed. The chemotherapy made his bones so weak that they just died instead of bonding with his jaw bone.
Tyler was all set to go and get a titanium jaw, but at the last minute, the hospital backed out. The hospital is Johns Hopkins in Maryland and the family is in South Carolina. Because medicaid in SC pays less than MD, the hospital won't accept that insurance.
This little boy is in immense pain every day. The hinge on one side of his jaw is gone so he cannot chew food. He may need a feeding tube if they cannot get his jaw working... I have heard that there are Star Trek (go Trekkies!!) fans out there who do wonderful things for charity. The family has gone everywhere for help with no success. I just wish there was something I could do to help them get the surgery financed so this little boy can at least have a half way normal life!
You can look at my profile for details on Tyler. Please tell me if you know where I should turn! Thank you!
