Do you agree that it is painful to have desire?

of stuff while you have hard time getting it... I totally agree. For example, it has been miserable weather lately, I have a great desire of being outside, enjoying sunshine, bring my dog to swim... unfortunately, I couldnt control the weather, I won't be able to fulfil my desire; I have been wanting to go shopping so bad, I couldn't because there ain't no money...
Desires make us painful when we are not able to fulfil it, that's what I think. Do you agree?

Desire results in suffering, if we end desire we can end suffering. I think desire is what is destroying our country and our world. We always want more.

Hello mermaidivy,
I know what you mean. It is really painful when you want something or do something and you cannot get it or do it at that time. I always feel upset and start to think about my life, whether I did the right thing in my life or not. I don't like the feelings and whenever it happens, I feel so hapless and angry!

I do agree with it as i experienced this too.
I always wanted to buy my dream bag and new mobile phone but where's the money? i can't afford it.
This year too i wanted to spend holiday on Italy but we can't afford to have two holidays in a year, coz we already book our flight for Philippines.
Oh money money money, i pray that we will win in lottery hehehe.

Well without any desire there is no disappointment, but there is also no achieving.
The example that you are making are quite material, but anyway if you desire something for so long, then it will be even better when you finally get what you want.
Anyway i think that desire even if it can be dangerous since it can make us sad for not having what we wish we had, is an important part of being alive.
If what you want is important then it is worth being sad for not having it.
The problem is when our desires are too much and about unnecessary things, marketing is all about that, making people have desire for something they don't really need, if we are exposed too much to that kind of marketing we risk having too many unsatisfied desires for things that are not so important after all.
So in brief i think it is ok to have desires but only the really important one should be allowed to make us sad.
