Hi, we have oats for breakfast, just with hot water and a little sugar, although it is also nice with a blob of homemade jam in the middle of it! I also use oats when Im making bread to give the loaves a slightly rustic taste...and I make flapjack twice a week..sugary and sweet but tasty. Also if Im making chocolate crispy cakes, I tend to mix oats and raisins into the mix to give it a bit of oompf!!

My cholesterol is very high and I can't tolerate the medications for it, so I am doing what I can to reduce that number on my own. Oatmeal is one thing that has been known to help a little, so I'm trying to eat it for breakfast several times a week at least. I also have a cookie recipe that has oatmeal, canned pumpkin and chocolate chips. When I make cookies I try to stick with that recipe since at least it has a few healthy things in it for me.

I don't eat oats daily, but have porridge now and again in winter-time. Flapjacks are lovely, and there are several different oaty biscuits that are good. Granola is a good thing to have for breakfast if you want to eat oats daily. I don't know if oats will help with weight loss, but they are certainly very good for you.

i take oats with milk and sugar. I have heard many say that oat helps you reduce weight and is rich sourceof fibre too. So you can probably try giving your husband foods made of oat. My grandmom cooks oats with water, salt and curd for my grandfather who is diabetic and has cholesterol problem :)
