Hi. I'm buying a new desktop. I'm planning to buy an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (2.66 Ghz, 12 Mb L2 cache, 8x multiplier) processor and run it on a mid range air-cooler. I would like a moderate overclock on it, to something like 3.3-3.5 Ghz. I need some suggestion on which motherboard and RAM to get. Do keep in mind that my budget limits me to mid-range and maybe lower high-end products. And regarding the graphics card, i was planning to get an HD 4870 or a GTX 260 core 216. But these cards are out of stock. However, i have the availability of getting a Geforce 8800 GTX at quite a low price. I'm getting a 17" monitor so the maximum resolution i'll use will most probably be 1600x1200. Do you think the 8800 would be a good card, or is it too much of a drop from the other cards? Should i get the 8800 or wait for the other cards to be available?

I'd say an ASUS mobo would definitely fit your budget... they have cheaper motherboard w/ the same high-performance level compare to it's competitor w/ higher prices... if you would use this desktop for gaming then ATI HD4870 would definitely a great buy... however you can go for a cheaper GPU from NVIDIA w/ the same specification & go for a higher RAM of 4gig or more...Corsair is the top choice!

Could you mention which asus board would be good? And regarding the GPUs, i've mentioned all my options above and also the complications involved. Could you give me an advice based on that? Cheers. Happy MyLotting. =D
