I'm a music lover and I appreciate almost any kind of songs or genre whether It'd be rnb, hiphop, classical, country or rock as long as it has meaningful lyrics and nice acoustics.. Both should be balanced and I especially like songs that accompanies many musical instruments.. =D My appreciation for music though is seasonal, sometimes I like this kind of song then other times I'd go for another genre and as of these days I love songs about world peace.. songs like "One" by Bono and Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson songs about world peace, Waiting for the world to change by John Mayer and other hippie songs which talks about world peace, african struggles and social issues. I love these kind of songs because it inspires me.. I'm a person whose so much affected with social issues around us, also one of the songs I like is Martina Mcbride's Concrete Angel which talks about an abused girl and Rascal Flatts' Skin which talks about a cancer patient.. =D

I think, maybe you're a closet freak? Ha, JK!!!!
But no, I agree with you. I have always wondered about that too. I have (as most people do) more than one favorite song, and some are easier to interpret than others, such as "Mud on the Tires" by Brad Paisley. It's a romantic song, though it is done in a fun, country sort of style. Well, that sums me up in a nutshell. I guess, maybe some songs can say a lot about a person, but others...maybe not so much.
