Do you think you are a smart person? I mean if you compare with others, do you think you are not as good as others? Roughly the same? Or more superior than them?
I sometimes think I am a smart person in that I can see what others are truly thinking when they are telling things that sounds so true which in fact is plainly excuses. But then, more of the time I think I am not that smart in that I will have what I am thinking written in my face that others can read my emotion fairly easily.

I've always been called the smart one. Not that I did well in school or college, but I always seem to know something about every subject. I study continuously on my own, and can be considered self-educated. I've also had the pleasure of studying in the School of Hard Knocks... by necessity, I've also developed 'street smarts'.
And most of all, I know when I don't know, and never am ashamed to admit it. You only become smart by learning.
However, I do have this friend who has a couple more degrees than I. He's fairly smart, but he tries to be a know-it-all. He's always telling me that he's right when I know he's wrong. And he never admits when he's wrong, or even the possibility of him being wrong.
It's probably why he's still looking for a job, and I'm looking to start my next business venture...

Thanks for your reply.
It is in fact very sad to meet someone like your friend. There is no doubt that these people are talented and should be able to achieve more but then since they are not understanding how life is and wrongly estimate their own capabilities that they are usually running into problems than having good prospects.

Hi, fasai!
I know I'm smart enough to know thee are so many things I don't know! Sometimes, I wish I weren't as smart as I am, though, so maybe I wouldn't understand some of the things I wish I didn't know.
I guess a perfect score on my SAT and GRE exams shows I'm smart, as does a 5.8 gpa in school. More importantly, I'm smart because I love to learn!

There is a good old saying that the only thing we do know for sure is we know nothing. What this really say is that while it seems we know a lot, it is usually very true that the more we know of something, the more we find that we don't know deep enough.
But then, most people will think that once they know something, they know it all and know it so deeply that there simply can't be something left to learn which so happens to be just the opposite.

I really don't think that I'm smart. I'd say that I'm fine in my own field but when it comes to social gatherings or parties, I ain't that smart enough. I've plans for everything in my mind but the smartness that is involved in executing is lacking in me. My girlfriend says that I'm smart, I actually don't believe this cause I know how clumsy I can be...

I know i have enough wits about me to get by every day. But i also know there is ALWAYS more I can learn. Everyday I grow and learn more. I dont think im smarter than anyone else. I think we all are capable of being as smart as we want we just have to strive for it and never stop learning.

Thanks for your reply.
It is critical that we understand that there are always more to learn and we don't just shut ourselves to any learning opportunities. What I wanna say is that there are times where we don't want to take it other's suggestions/opinions because we are too confident of ourselves and think that we have known so well of something and reject any others.

I'm probably pretty average. I'm smart when it comes to things I like, though, I think. If you talk to me about a subject that interests me I'll know a lot more than somebody who has never heard of it. That's similar to a lot of people though.
