Do you have little girls in your life that love to play dress up . . . you know the ones who are always snooping around your make up bag for a little fun? Well here is a homemade lip gloss you can make with them . .
All you need is some sort of cannister . . I used an old copntainer I had from an eye cream that I had saved .. .but you could use many different things. . even an old 35mm film cannister . . look around I am sure you have something to do this with... anyway find the container and put it aside.
Next you need vegetable shortening.... and then let the little ones choose their favorite flavor of presweetened Kool Aid . . .use one packette with 3 tablespoons of the shortening. Microwave this mixture together for one minute. Then transfer it to your container/cannister and refrigerate it over night....
happy loyying

Here i come again. Your tip sound great, at least i think your homemade lip stick formula will not poison little girls compare to those commercial types which some of them contained lead traces and other chemical. I sure will keep that in my little brain.

As I am not very much familiar with kitchen stuff... I am also not that familiar wit vegetable shortening. I'll try to look around though. This looks very interesting. As I love makeup very much... I always find my nieces snooping around my stuff. Their mom is not that much into makeup... so they have my stuff to sneak into. lol... Now I can trick them to using this. Hope I can find the ingredients here. Are there other alternatives to vegetable oil shortening? Or maybe I have it already in my house... but it's just named differently?

Awesome ideal! I never would of thought to use vegetable oil. I usually make lip balm with melted beeswax,3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil, few drops of tea tree oil and 2-3 drops of jojoba oil. I have these small tiny screw lid top containers I use to place the lip balm in.The measurements are not an exact science because I used tiny containers and they only hold a small amount of home made lip balm in it. I usually only make one at a time and melt the beeswax in the micro wave since it's a tiny amount. I do love the ideal of adding koolaid to it for color and a bit of flavor! I don't have any little girls but it seems like something I'd like to make for myself ( for the little girl in me..hehe) Thanks for sharing Saw

I am so glad to hear your little one is going to love this . . and just think of the "memory" you will be making for her . . . I think making "stuff" with our daughters really sets the stage for great times together . .
and just think . .. with this added item you purchase . .you can also use it in other ways;
-moisturizes dry skin .. try some on the dry area, , , its amazing
-in a pinch it works as great eye make up remover
-gets those annoying stickers off of anything from an apple to a glass bottle
-gets ink off your hands or off anything vinyl
and that is just to name a few
Have fun with that precious little girl
