Noise drives me nuts!

I work in an office with lots of noise from conversations and phones ringing all day long. When I get home from work sometimes (like today for example) I will turn off all my phones and just sit in peace and quiet for probably an hour or so. Noise drives me nuts sometimes, especially when my boss is on a roll as I call it. He has a big booming voice and sometimes it seems to just resonate in my skull. I just had to vent.

Long ago I worked in an office atmosphere for many years, and the ringing phones drove me crazy. I worked in a customer service area, and customers were constantly streaming up to the counter and whining about one thing or another. I couldn't wait to take my lunch break to get away from the insanity. And then after lunch, it was back to the same nonsense. When the work day was over, I was usually very spent, and hostile. I craved quiet time too, and wanted to be left alone to decompress. I'm glad those days are over.

i get what you're saying! my family keeps the tv on anytime we're home, or a video game is being played, or someone is watching a video on the computer. sometimes i just like to turn everything off and just think! i feel like all that noise is not good for the soul. how can we really use our brains and get to know our own thoughts if we're constantly being bombarded with noise? i think silence is necessary sometimes.
