What do you mean by freezer slaw, friend?. Please explain. I´m one of those people that always have the freezer bursting although I live alone. I just have the refrigerator freezer but it is a very big one.
Besides pprocessing meat when it´s on sale ( I turn many low cost cuts into ground meat or dice it for all sorts of casseroles or strogonoffs) I even make lemon juice cubes when lemons are cheap. Some of my treasures are pesto (in summer basil is at it´s prime and very unexpensive), chicken liver paté, broths of all kinds that I use when cooking, diced green beans, corn and peas.
I guess my freezer helps me a lot be the lady of the castle when friends come for diner. You can make a lot of unexpensive yet elegant meals with precious findings there.

U sound like me to. I SQURREL THINGS AWAY IN MY FREEZER ALL SUMMER & ANY OTHER TIME THAT I THINK I'M GETTING A BARGAIN. I know your friends must like to come to your house to eat, mine do, lol.
freezer slaw is made like any slaw & u make a dressing out of vinegar, sugar, canning salt & celery seed. It is great to have especially in the winter when produce gets sooooo high here.it keeps forever in the freezer & is still crisp & tasty when u thaw u some out.

I know what u mean. hasn't been too many weeks since i defrosted mine & straightened up & now it's a mess again. it has cooled off some & my freezer is in a shed at the end of my carport so i have got to get out there & rearrange again since i have added some things. Have a happy day.

I´ll do it as soon as I find a place in that freezer. Yesterday I took some food out to use it and when I tried to put the rest in, it was like making a puzzle. As I never buy those nice cartons of food but they are all homemade, they aren´t as well arranged asthey should. I use a lot of ziplock bags and dump them there
But still, yes, this squirrell´s house is the reunion place of many nice and hungry friends.

Aunt jo, i love slaw! I'd like to try your recipe, could you send me that thru PM, pls? By the way alex mixed some avocado with milk and a bit of sugar. It's there in the freezer and we spoon out some of it and have it as dessert! It's like soft icecream!

I have always wanted to learn how to make jam, and other stuff to can and freeze, however I never learned how. My grandmother always canned stuff but by the time I was old enough to actual have an interest in learning how to do all that, she had passed away. It seems like no one these days cans anymore which is a shame as I would love to learn.

I have in the past, then I did not for a long while, just meats and things I find on sale. I always buy the store brand frozen veggies when they are at about a dollar a bag. I have lots of freezer boxes just waiting for the peppers and tomatoes I have planted this year. I am curious, how do you make freezer slaw? Does it get mushy when you freeze it? I would think so.

GOOD MORNING, T hat's good to. we all have to cut corners where we can. the only bread store like that is 10 miles away so i don't guess u'd save that much driving over there for bread as high as gas is.

wow...you make jams, pickles etc...thats lots of stuff to entertain your hands. I have never made stuff like that as we are always being pampered by store bought things. There is still a lot of vacancy in my freezer as I normally doesn't store so much of stuff there. The only thing that fill my fridge is vegetables and fruits.

Other than you....my freezer is my best friend! It is outside in a shed, where I have double insulated it (as we have many power outs here on this small Island)! Besides my freezer, my other best investment was my Food Saver that vacuums & seals all my freezer foods! So being single, when I make a soup or stew, I make a large pot..and freeze many meals. Sure would like your freezer slaw recipe! I grow a lot of my veggies....tomatoes right now are ginormous, so make lots of sauces, salsa, green tomato mincemeat...and freeze lots whole. Just love when fall nears and I get to put food by! Have a rainbow week..and Cheers~

I have never heard of freezer slaw! It sounds very interesting. I don't put up anything.....since I live by myself I hardly eat here.....I only eat twice a day and once is here! So when I buy groceries I only buy them about every two, three months (not milk and bread but the other bigger things) sounds like you are very ambitious!

man now that sounds good. i love slaw. you mean like cole slaw, right? well, here, my sons gf only buys stuff to put up in the freezer. but then we try not to make to much to have to save it. when i lived alone in my own place i used to do that a lot though. make things that had the ingredients on sale and put in freezer for later use.

GOOD MORNING BON, It is very good. yes, it 's cole slaw w/a vinegar & sugar dressing along w/some other things. It keeps real well for a long time. i also make freezer pickles that are good. It all comes in real handy in the winter when produce gets so expensive here. IT ALSO GIVES ME SOMETHING TO DO .

MMM...freezer slaw! I haven't made any but my family has always had frozen and canned stuff. I don't have a big freezer but if I did..you better believe I would be filling it up. I wanted to learn the art of canning but my grandmother passed before she could teach me. I use the space in my freezer the best I can though. I do freeze things to use later. It does save money and the time of having to run out to the store every little bit. Plus like you said..the prices go up in the winter.
