Doctors I love

I have a Doctor that treats me for my arthritics I love this man, he tries so hard to make me happier. But there is zero communication between us. He always has a med medication for me to try, I always ask him what are the side effects? He tells me but it is obvious that these are not common questions he gets from others. I tell him I will take the samples home and then look it up on the Internet and only take it after I feel sure I will not suffer to many side effects. This is a conversation we have every time I see him, about 4 times a year. I have been his patient for about 5 years. The next time I will see him I will tell him the med he sent me home with had terrible side effects and that I would rather put up with the pain I know than one I don't know. Why doesn't he put on my file the fact that I am afraid of side effects and will not try new drugs? And why in all these years haven't I asked him to do this? Communication is sadly lacking here. Do you have these kinds of problems with Doctors?

Either you have to depend on your doctor or you have to change your doctor. Internet is not a direct communication method. You will not get the proper answer from internet. You ask your doctor to give you patience hearing.I think this will help you to get rid of your problem.

Hi, You can try Homeopathy as homeopathic medicines do not have side effects. It's nice to know that inspite of problems you like your doctor.I am a homeopathic doctor and I am really happy with my practice, for the affection I get from my patients. When I pray to God I pray for my patients as well. You can send an e-mail and communicate with your doctor and tell him about your fears.

Hey pat~ I'm like that too! I always ask the doctors that question! I don't think they understand why it is so important to us! I don't particularly want to be a guinea pig and I don't want to take something that is going to make me feel worse then I already feel! But, for some reason the doctors still don't get it, so I just keep repeating it!

It is difficult to find a really good doctor who is on your wave length and is willing to spend the time to talk to you about how you feel as well as your fears and concerns. I have two now; they are both GPs, one is male and the other female. They are thorough and sympathetic doctors. I see the female doctor whenever I can and go to the other because she is not available which is often because she works part-time and is very popular. Your doctor does not sound all that efficient if he won’t make notes of your concerns. I would be inclined to see someone else.

I hate going to a hospitals and I dread seeing doctors coz of my fear of needles it follows when I go to hospitals or clinic Well I do self medicate since my mom is a nurse and my uncle is a doctor and my relatives is a family of those kind so there is really no point o going for check ups just asked one of them about my condition then I would get my answer not unless if it's an emergency reason

I came to the conclusion at a young age that drs. are just people, too, and not infallible. I learned to ask questions, mention things freely, and be my own advocate. I have been especially fortunate with all my complications to have had drs. that actually welcome or invite this kind of interaction. Karen

i dont see why you love him if he can't give you medication that works. Doctors need to talk to you to get to know you so they provide with the best care and medication suitable for you. And if your having to do the reasearch yourself i would find another doctor
