I just got back from my prom. What memories do you have of yours?

Well, actually about 2 hours ago. But still. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be! I'm known as a quiet girl and expected myself to stay sat down all night but I danced more than anyone! As you can probably expect, the night was filled with Michael Jackson songs (Although it fitted as so was my year 6 leavers doo which many of the people at this one attended) but there were other songs too and it was a lot of fan! Kind of sad to say goodbye though!
There was a few arguments, a few tears etc. but otherwise everything went to plan and everyone looked very pretty in their dresses! I felt like a I was dressed down a bit to be honest as many had dresses like fairytale princesses. I wore a sort of knee length grey dress with silver butterflies on!
What can you remember of your prom? Did everything go to plan? What did you wear?

I have very fond memories of my proms, my Junior and my Senior. We had a wonderful time (different dates for each one). They had a hypmotist at my Junior Prom and it was incredibly funny watching some of our classmates get hypmotized. At my Senior prom there was a comedian, who got information from somebody about several people and they they told jokes about them. Some people got really offended, and one girls older boyfriend found out about some other guy having this huge crush on her, and she had them dance, and this guy was there with his girlfriend. It was very seedy. A lot of people got really offended. But it was still really fun.
For my Jr. Prom I had on a full length white dress with a baby blue belt. At that time all prom dresses were long. The dress could have easily passed for a wedding dress. For my senior prom I wore a lavender dress, that came down on the shoulders, and had a big full skirt, which was the fashion in 1984. I thought the dress was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. My mom shopped with me for that one. she had a certain budget in mind and the dress was $60 more than she had planned on spending, but when I tried it on she just said, "Well you only have one Senior prom, go ahead and get it." I never forgot that moment.
I am glad you had a good time at your prom.

I was a very anti-social kid during school, going to a very very small school, with only 21 graduating seniors, I was nearly a ghost. The school was 6th - 12th, and I went their all my life. Though my life started picking up in social status come 12th grade, my senior year, where I met my girlfriend. We both were anti-social, so we agreed not to go to prom, but she wanted to take pictures, so we went to prom, but not for "Prom". I didn't dress up, she didn't dress up, we just went, she took pictures, and I sat in the corner, ignored by everyone. Prom brings back bad memories of being ignored, and having no one car about me, but then again, I guess that's the results for being anti-social.

Hi there!
That's great! It's nice that you had lots of fun. Well, I'm sorry I don't have any experience to share since we didn't have one. When I was in high school, there were so many gangsters that were active and there were lots of fights so we weren't allowed to have prom. All we had was a graduation ball on our senior year.

I went to a couple of proms but my senior prom was the most important one. The thing that stands out in my memory is how we tricked the school so that a friend of ours, who had just come out of the closet, could bring his boyfriend to prom. He wasn't allowed to buy tickets for himself and his date because you had to tell the school who your date was so he listed a female friend of ours as his date. I bought tickets and listed his boyfriend as my date. Later on my boyfriend bought tickets and listed me as his date. The school didn't catch on and we all arrived as a group so no one noticed then either. They didn't get to dance with each other but they did get to go to prom and, the best part was that the school officials figured it out at some point during the evening but they couldn't do anything about it.

I went stag with a few friends to my prom. I was the new kid in town, so I had no hope pf having a date. My friends and I stayed just long enough to have our pictures taken as proof to our parents that we actually went, then we left and drove around all night.
The year before, I was at a different school and went to a Winter Formal dance with my neighbor and very close friend. We didn't dance a lot, but we did dance a little. That event was a lot more memorable to me than my actual prom was.

i am glad that you had fun at yours. well mine was back in 2002!! ahh! i am getting old!! lol!!! well at mine we sat down the whole night. we didn't dance any songs at all. it was so boring with the guy that i went to prom with!!! i thnk i wasted my time and money to go to prom. even though it should be something fun it wasnt like that for me. i know its sad. we didn't go to a hotel or nothing like that either. we were going to go to the club and we did go but i had nothing else to wear i had to borrow a friends skirt. which by the way it didn't even fit me... ughh what i night for me. oh but the thing i did love was my dress. it was very simple long black with blue mettalic bands that went every way. you could see them by the way the light would hit me. and it had 2 long slits one on each side running up my legs. i loved that dress and by the way i still have it!! i only wore it that one time that was all.
well i must be getting you bored. i hope you liked my experience.
talk to you laters byebye
