for me telling a lie always makes things worse its because tell lies when they have to pull themselves out of a situation. Most of them want to tell the truth most of the time but once in a while, before they have had time to think about it, out comes a lie, more often, when asked why they said it, they can't explain or give any sensible reason why they didn't tell the truth.
