In this technological age your gonna be plugged into something!
Catching the news, latest reality or tv show on the tube, the radio, your cellphone, Nintendo DS, COMPUTER. But what if someone you really trust, heck God even, told you in order to enjoy life you would have to Kill your Tv, could you?
What would you do to fill in the time now because it will probably take some effort (you could sleep it away) as you'll find yourself scheduling your time now with so many new opportunities and hobbies.
Could you do it, have you ever Tried. This isn't a contest so feel free to share anything, I haven't killed it yet.

doesn't makes sense, why kill the television? this only goes for the parents who wants to teach their kids to sleep early in bed. they kill or rather turn off the t.v earlier than the time adults or teenagers do. They let their children spent some of their time on t.v to catch some science learning or anything that can give an additional knowledge to their child. aside from that, t.v also has many use, we usually watch the t.v for entertainment, when we're depressed or feeling sad, we would want to watch something that is funny and that can make us laugh. the question in order to enjoy life... you must kill your television are for those who wants to stay away from modernism. those who are living in the forest or mountains, or anywhere peace, without any electricity. those who wants to be alone, or just looking for a peace and calming life.

well i can definately tell you I am not living in the forest and only the suburbs and this idea as still crossed my time. There's many ways you can keep up with the times without using your TV...its reading. There's tons of magazines available through the local library, always free literature to keep you up on local events, the newspaper of course and lots of books for entertainment and a radio if that suits you. I never thought Tv would be the end of the world but the way you sound I'd have to wonder.

I watch very little television at all. There are so many other things I can do to spend my time, I hardly ever even think about it. It is turned on a lot at my house because my husband likes to watch it, but I hardly give it a glance. He says it is because I don't relax, I say it is because there are more important and more enjoyable things that I can do rather than sit on my rear and stare at a box.

I don't feel like Im learning as much as when Im actually Doing something so its hard for me to stay glued to the tv--i learned this after taking alot of walks around town with the kids and sitting on the green watching people pass, you notice SO MUCH when your actually tuned it whats happening instead of passively paying attention, there's a difference.

I could do without it. Our power went out for a short time last night because of a storm, and I was able to preoccupy myself with talking and just thinking. Technology such as t.v., computer, and etc are just there for mild entertainment and for making money. I can read a book, play games, etc, and be fine with what little there is to do. It's funny, my fiance and I comment that when the power goes out I am not bored, but when it isn't out, I am bored with technology!
have a wonderful day!

In this day and age of the internet .. who needs the Tv .. I have no patience anymore for the TV . .between the commercials and the 900 million channels that each cable company has on their network . it never seems to be that I can actually enjoy anything on that box. . .
I condense it all right here on my puter and watch what I want . .when I want. . and it is commercial free!
and I always have the lot . .far more fun than TV

I used to think that TV did ruin alot of kids, with all the indecency and foul language that they now air. Unfortunately, now, I think the TV is tame compared to what the kids have access to on the computers. TV is all fiction for the most part (even most reality shows are fake), but on the computer, these are real people. Just reading some of the negative, and rude comments on this site can turn a person from enjoyment to down right disgusted. I can almost imagine what young kids are learning from other sites. I say kill the computers or get stricter with what is going across the internet.

hey, It's funny you should ask, my hubby and I decided against the converter box fiasco, and as we don't have satellite or cable for TV, we're are only using our TV for DVD's. I used to enjoy watching the evening news, but now I've been listening to it the radio or online. I have also taken a liking to talk radio shows these days. I do miss the TV for certain programs, but hopefully I can catch up on those online too. The reason we opted out of the converter box is because we live in a rural area, and for us it would be a major hassle trying to get a signal even with an antenna. Thanks
