Fame, wealth and a weak character are lethal weapons for self destruction.

There are so many celebrities who have suffered at the hands of this triple combination. Some have thankfully had the common sense to take a break, get some professional help and reidentify themselves, while others continue headon and self destruct.
Many have died from drug overdose or have committed suicide etc...
We really shouldnt pray for riches too much but rather work hard and allow it to come to us in due course. Many have gained the riches they crave but have not managed to truly enjoy it. Why is this?
They buy the larger than life (figurative) properties and dwell in houses so huge they require a tour, yet they are unhappy. They use private jets, have luxury cars and chauffeurs, nannies for their kids, buy what they want and do not want, and the list could go on, yet they are so unhappy.
Is this not a lesson to those of us who crave riches? Michael Jackson like many other celebs had unresolved issues which became their undoing or near undoing to their career and person.
Fame, wealth and a weak character are lethal weapons for self destruction.

I couldn't agree more, people most esp the rich one who got their riches in an easy way not from their hard work really falls on these hole. Those celebrity are the most vulnerable one, they tend to please all their fans just to make sure that their fan base continue to admire them. Weak character I think are those who get influenced by others, they can't decide for themselves.

I agree with you in some points.I think you have thought about life deeply.Yes.Fame,wealth and a weak character are lethal weapon for self destruction. But we all know that every coin has two sides. The way you treat it will cause the very ending. So everything is possible. Why not believe yourself?

I have many friends in this country who have so much wealth. They are not happier than I am. They find it hard to sleep at night because they are worrying about their money - especially with the ponzi schemes that we have had recenty out here.

It is important for us to first of all remember that wealth brings luxury and comfort but not always happiness.
So many persons have worked (or conned ) their way into riches only to find that it brings them more worries.
It is sad that these people become almost like a human shells living in huge homes, driving really nice vehicles etc... but not being able to enjoy life.

Hi tjades, I think that some celebrities stand out more than others. There are thousands of famous and not so famous people who are handling their fame and money very well. They have families and are very responsible. I know that if my hubby and I had a windfall, we could do some good for others with it and be responsible too. It's just that some people go crazy, and wealth can blind some people badly. Thanks

And that is very true too. There are some celebs whose lives seem to be just as normal as ours. We hardly ever get them in the news until they get to the grammys or someting like that.
Hats off to those people who are able to keep a level head in the midst of wealth and fame and provide a stable home for their kids.
In that case I wish for you and yours an abundance of wealth.
