Where Is your Favourite Place To Go When You Just Want To Read For A Few Hours?

When I want to take my book and escape for a while, I like to go up the street to the Second Cup Cafe. There are Second Cups all over Canada. The one in Guelph is just up the street (a straight shot!) from my apartment, about a mile away. My street is a very long street, so you can go a good 5 miles, and still be on the same street. Today I sat outside on the patio, yesterday I sat inside in a nice soft easy chair. Where do you like to go when you want a nice quiet place to read?

I usually do my reading inside my room. I can't seem to focus on reading whenever I do it on a coffee shop because I get to always look at the people passing by, I easily get distract.

When I want to read for a while, I head to the beach. This way my daughter can play in the sand and I can sit in the sun. I love just soaking up the sun while reading a great magazine.

I have five places I like to go. The first is my garden, where it is nice and peaceful and I have mixed aromas of various flowers scenting the air. I can read my book in peace, whilst studying nature and its ways. My second favourite place is in the cemetery of the local church. There's an oak tree with a remembrance bench beneath it. It's very quiet up there apart from the chime of the clock at fifteen minute intervals, and I just feel at peace there. The third, is just outside the cemetery hedging, on the cricket field... there is a cut part of a tree trunk lain on the grass, where I love to sit and read. If I don't take my book with me, then I'll just sit and contemplate life... it's that peaceful. The fourth, is the beach. I love to hear the gentle ripple of breaking waves on the sand whilst sitting in a deck chair reading. It's not always peaceful there, but if it gets too distracting, then I can get up and comb the beach for shells and special pebbles. The final place is the park, just up the road from me. There are willows up there and benches where one can sit for as long as they wish, watching the world go by. There are never many people there unless there's a football match being played, so that's another peaceful place, and lots of rabbits and squirrels inhabit the area. Just my cup of tea! Brightest Blessings, my friend.

My living room sitting on the recliner or laying down on the floor on top of a big pillow :) Don't get me wrong. I am an avid reader and will read anywhere, but the place where I feel more comfortable is in my living room. Veranda open and the sunlight coming trough:):):)

I usually go to Barnes and Nobles since there is a Starbucks inside and there is nothing better than reading and drinking coffee.

Wow your street is long! It wouldn't take you more than about 20 seconds to walk the entire length of mine! Well I tend to read on my bed when there is something I really want to read. I would love to sit in a coffee shop though or sit in a park one day and read. I also would like to be able to read at the beach. Sadly I am unable to read while I am travelling because it makes me feel sick, I guess I wish I could read then too.

I can picture myself going to our newly remodeled library and reading, either at a cozy small table or in the furniture in front of the stained glass windows or even in the newspaper area. I can picture it, but do not seem to do it.

I am not much of a reader at all. I have a hard time remembering what I have read and I need peace and quiet also. I think if I wanted to read something, I would go out on my deck swing and read or lay in my bed.

I wish I had a place like that, I generally have to sit at my desk or crawl into bed to read - and then I have to fight off the cats.

My favorite place is on my comfy chair on my balcony. I like to be lounging outside when I read. Ideally, I'd like to be reading on the beach. If I can't be outside, I like to sit on my bed, propped with a bunch of pillows and have my cats snuggling with me.

my livingroom - where I sit to read
I have an area in my livingroom that I like to sit in when I am reading. The lighting is good if I have the curtain open. I have a fireplace, it isn't showing in my picture but it is to the left. I enjoy sitting here because it is comfortable and I feel like I can get away from everything else when I sit in this area. I sometimes sit on the leather couch by the windows and sometimes I sit on the sofa chair you see on the bottom right of the picture.

We also have lot of shops like that here. But i prefer sitting in my house and read books.Well i cannot go to library and sit there...with my kids running here and there.I prefer sitting in the house because of that reason.Otherwise i will sit in a library and read a whole lot of books.

I used to love to curl up on a cozy chair and read until my eyes blurred. Now I have a 4 year old and a 3 month old and I don't seem to get to read anything besides childrens books. Anytime my children see me get comfortable that's their cue to start up. So these days if I want to read anything for myself I have to sneak in the bathroom and lock the door. How sad is that!

I usually just read in my room. Or at work. Or I used to read at school. Sometimes it is too loud since I read wearing headphones and need to be able to hear the words. But usually I can hear just fine anywhere.

I tend to stay home when i want to read. Its quiet I'm alone and i can choose not to answer the phone. Sometimes i curl up in bed to read sometimes i sit out on the deck or lay in the hammock. I find trying to read when other people are around rather...frustrating as people tend to stop to chat or ask what im doing or reading and i just want to get lost in the book.

I like to read in a comfortable chair at my house but it is often tempting to fall asleep when I'm at home! I typically go to the local library or Barnes and Noble to read. If it is a nice day I'll head over to a park to read. I can read basically anywhere. Noise level and location usually don't matter to me.
