Religion - Different religions across the world.

There are some people who believe that religion is the answer. And some who believe that religion causes nothing but discrimination amongst humans. Some people are rigid followers of their religions. Some believe in God but not in religion. And then there are people who strait out do not believe in God. There are also some people who believe that THEIR religion is the only "real" religion and that everyone should convert to their religion. I, personally, do not follow any religion. As to the existence of God, I believe that that is something that can neither be proved or disproved. It depends on every individual's choice whether or not to believe in Him. What are your views on religion?

I do not strongly believe in the presence of a Higher power. I'm an agnostic. But I strongly feel, all religions are man-made. Still, I won't say they're utter useless or anything close to that. There are some great things which religions only can explain. In those regards, I'm a total admirer of the eastern religions- Sanatan Dharma, Jainism, Buddhism etc. However, the basic reason I ain't much in favor of their western counterparts is their intolerance, proselytization and the enforcement of too many rules. They actually make a monster out of God, for me. So, it would be much better if they calm down a bit on their religions and give more preference to rationale and intellect, instead of believing and forcing others to believing in an imaginary, third party hypothetical God. God is actually a beautiful concept, although I don't believe in His presence. I'd say S/He/It is a great useful illusion. Religions are supposed to capitalize on this point; instead the western religions have apparently made a mess of it all.

Cheers. I too am agnostic. =D Whatever you said is very true. People have made religion and God a completely political issue, so to speak.

I believe that whatever religion, whatever gd one follows . it is a personal choice . .and that choice is to be respected by anyone who comes into contact with that person . . But most important we are to each show everyone TOLERANCE. Happy Day to you sandeepnongkynrih, and Lotting to you!

Tolerance. Exactly. Thats the only solution, tolerance and respecting each other's beliefs. But there are so many people who go on about how only their religion is true. Its these people that cause all the problems. Why can't EVERYONE respect other people's beliefs and let it be. That would make the world such a better plce to live in. Happy MyLotting to you too. =D

My view on religion is that I dont discuss it with friends...it almost always turns into a debate and since we all have our OWN beliefs we should just leave it at that and move on.

Well yeah, you're totally right. Everytime anyone starts discussing about religion, it always results in an argument. But thats the thing. Why does it lead to an argument. Why don't people just respect each others beliefs and let it be. Many people do, but there are quite a few people who don't. And these sre the people that cause all the problems.
