To start let me define acne that starts the problem. According to wikipedia, acne vulgaris (commonly called acne) is a skin disease caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Severe acne is inflammatory, but acne can also manifest in noninflammatory forms. Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots, zits, or acne. I was a late bloomer they say. It was only after 19 when I started experiencing problems with my skin. And because I was not used to it I resorted to doing many things just to get rid of the zits but all I got afterterwards was a face full of acne scars. After 5 years I just realized what I did to myself. If only I had let the acne go and never did anything, I would never have had any problem after all. But then it was already too late. My dermatologist and surgeon said "no". Not too late they say. These days if you are ugly, it is a big sin. Technologies are just around to help you with your problem. For acne scar treatment you can choose from the following depending on how serious your problem is. But one thing for sure you will achieve what you really want if you have the money. First, there is the so called "microdermabrassion or powerpeeling (layman's term)". That is if your problem is not that serious. I mean if the scars are not deep, you can have only a few sessions. And this does not cost much compared to other treatments. Second, dermabrassion which is considered a surgical operation since you will surely bleed if you undergo it. I actually underwent this. I have deep scars so my dermatologist and surgeon suggested that I should undergo this. It costs an arm and a leg but I am quite satisfied with the result. It took me six months before I totally recovered. One session would suffice. Third is "laser resurfacing" which is the burning of your outer skin by laser. It also costs the same as the second one I mentioned. This is also advisable for deep scar problems. I have not tried this since I've already tried "dermabrassion". Fourth is the most popular nowadays, the "derma roller". This is also advisable for deep scars. The treatment takes a long time but per session is not as expensive as the second and the third. Sessions interval would be one month. And treatment duration depends on how serious your problem is. The longest would probably take 6 months or so. Some of my friends have tried this and they are quite satisfied. Others seemed to be unsatisfied saying it is only superficial. I should say no wonder why the price is so. I still haven't tried this one. So I am not that qualified to say so. I therefore conclude, basing on my experience and from what I've seen and shall we say I have it on good authority, I think that "dermabrassion" is the best but you just have to be very careful with the surgeon you choose. That's because the result of it relies solely on the surgeon's skill.

I cleared up bad acne using Therasol from visol.com. It worked wonders in getting rid of existing acne and preventing further acne. I then had to get rid of acne scars with I successfully did with Peelife, also from visol.com - it is a home microdermabrasion machine that worked wonders on my skin. I now enjoy glowy, soft and smooth skin! Very happy with the results. visol.com has effective products and the site hosts a bunch of information for you to make your own informed decision.

Acne scars are best minimized by gentle treatment of the outbreak, refraining from squeezing pimples, or using harsh acne treatments. Gentle cleansing several times a day is wise for outbreak control, but rough scrubbing can promote scarring, causing as much damage to the skin as the original acne problem. Unfortunately, for some people with very sensitive skin some scarring is unavoidable, but gentle treatment can lessen the degree and appearance of the marks. Pigmented scars, darkened spots on the skin, are the most common form of acne scarring. While pigmented scarring can be unsightly, it is most often temporary. However, pigmented scarring can take weeks or even months to fade away on its own, causing much frustration for the person affected, sending them on a determined search for effective answers in how to get rid of acne scars. The process can be hastened with acne scars treatment. Removing acne scars of this type can often be accomplished effectively with a regimen of gentle exfoliation, moisturizers, and skin lightening solutions. A variety of natural products are available to use for such a regimen, offering gentle and effective acne scars treatment. Pitted scarring presents more of a challenge. While often the deeper skin damage present in pitted scarring cannot be completely eliminated, its outward appearance can be dramatically improved with an effective acne scars treatment. Two general approaches are most effective when considering how to get rid of acne scars of this type, exfoliation or peeling to decrease the depth of the pitting, and stimulation of collagen and elastin to promote a healthier structure and appearance in new skin growth. The exfoliation process can be achieved with a variety of methods. Chemical peels are a common method, as is dermal abrasion and laser resurfacing. These are among the most aggressive and costly acne scars treatment options, and often need to be repeated several times for effective results. Many gentler natural exfoliation methods are available, which can offer effective results with less risk of the side affects. A variety of topical solutions are available that can stimulate production of collagen and elastin, and a healthy, well balanced diet combined with the use of vitamin supplements can be helpful in maintaining an adequate supply of nutrients to promote the growth and maintenance of healthy, clear skin. There is no overnight miracle acne scars treatment, but there are many reputable and effective methods for removing acne scars. Effective acne scars treatment depends heavily upon the type of scarring, and its severity. An accurate answer to the question of how to get rid of acne scars requires an assessment of the type and area of the problem to be dealt with, and the evaluation of available options for doing so, including their expense, effectiveness, and possible side affects. source :http://www.quickcare.org/skin/acne-scars-treatment.html
