Chineese people eat some crazy food stuff I wouldn't even consider food. They eat cat and dog. I don't agree with this at all. Here in America we have those animals as pets. I can't imagine eating a dog or a cat. They consider it a delicacy but in my personal opinion it is animal crulety. If we did that here in America we would be fined and put to jail. I have also heard of them eating fetus soup. Fetus soup is made from a real human fetus that was lost or aborted. I know it is only a fetus but it's still a form of a human being. I don't see how that can actually be legal. They have different laws and live differently but eating fetus soup is definetly not acceptable. How can this actually taste good. I do like American chineese food but I am always sceptical about there meat. I really try not to eat it and stick with vegetables. I know it is illegal to serve cat and dog here In America but I always wonder . When you look at the meat sometimes it look weird or has a different texture.

Yes, Chinese eat all kind of things that you cannot imagine. But then I won't question why they eat all kind of "strange" things when people around the world also have their own food styles. Also, when we feel that eating dogs and cats are cruel and unacceptable, what makes eating cows and pigs that much better? Just because we feed them with food doesn't make it reasonable for us to eat them.
I won't just say it is cruel to eat cats and dogs when I also eat cows, pigs, chicken, ducks, etc. It is just because we keep them as pets that it feels cruel.

Without being mean, i find this discussion not in good taste. This is their culture. I am not Chinese but i dont understand what you want to say. Eating cow can be against law in India and pig in many mid east Muslim countries yet American eat them with such delicacy. It is so cruel on their parts. American eats ducks which is kept as pets here. I do not understand how can beef taste good , it is so cruel and definitely not acceptable as we keep them as pets. Yes when i do look at meat in American joints like McDonald or KFC it does looks different. So just telling you, different cultures have evolved differently and if something is not what you are used to doesn't mean it is bad or should be downgraded. Not looking for a fight here, just giving my opinion and no i m not much meat eater. I am a Hindu so i hardly ever touch meat.

the Chinese has a well known saying that says " we the Chinese we eat everything that flies except the planes. and we eat everything that swim except the boats .and we eat everything that walks except cars and human" personally i do not agree with the last statement. because i read in a newspaper that several times man was eaten in China. anyways, they are 2 billions people leaving there .if they eat our ordinary food most of them will die starved .and the price of food will be redoubled. remember when Chinese begin to eat wheat its price flamed in the world

Chinese have their own style of cooking. And no matter what, In all countries there are taboos and mostly Asian countries you can find them eating insects. I was able to watch that on cable tv when I went for a short trip back to my in laws place.
And there was this market that sells, spiders, beetles and other dried insects that is eatable for them and ohh my, your tummy will really turn backwards once you saw these people eat those poor creatures.
Even in the wild, somewhere in Africa, there was a tribe that eats wood worms and such insects too. So i guess that it is not only Chinese, but all over the globe.

I believe that each country has it's own culture regarding food and we should not criticise what they eat even though it may seem strange. Eating with Chinese friends they consider chickens feet and ducks tongue a delicacy but I've never been tempted by it. In Mediterranean countries snails are eaten widely which some people would never try. I expect that if a lot of these things were eaten blind without knowing what the foodstuff was they would be enjoyed until they knew what they had actually eaten, often it is the thought of something alien to our own culture which is off putting rather than the food itself, it's just a case of getting your mind around it.

I agree with what you said!Different country have differrent culture style. As a Chinese,I don't think there is anything wrong to take some animals as food just like some of the Americans would like to eat chicken. There is a clear dividing line between pets and animails for food. Some of the Chinese also take the cats or dogs as pets and of cause we wouldn't eat them then.

my mother is English Malay and my father is Chinese German. so im pretty much a lot of things i had a Chinese grandmother and let me tell you that it is not true. not all Chinese eat those things. most Chinese people consider those stuff to be disgusting too. its mostly Chinese people from china and people from Thailand who eat those things. you can't judge people by what they eat and in most countries it is illegal to cook dogs and cats and as for fetus soup they make it out of the fetus's that has been thrown away by hospitals due to parents not wanting them.
i think its wrong to eat dogs and cats and sheep/lamb and cow and all sorts of meat because what makes 1 meat available to eat and another not? so to be fair all meat should not be allowed to eat then but of course you're disagreeing with me right now. i have never stepped foot in china or Thailand and i don't ever plan on because of the things they do. so if you don't like what they do maybe you shouldn't go there too?

Well, I guess it's really strange to eat those types of dishes.. i have been to china and tried authentic chinese cuisine but i didn't have the guts to try cat or dog meat.. i will never ever eat the meat of those cute household pets.. but you know what, i can't blame them for doing that.. why? because we have our own beliefs, culture and that.. maybe, it's legal in china to eat those types of dishes..

crazy! i have known chinese friends and they have been to china, and no one ever said that chinese eat dogs and cats lol but then people have different cultures. in some countries, they do not eat pigs or cows.. let us just respect them and read more about them and their culture before jumping into any conclusion.

I'm Chinese but I never ate cats or dogs, it only happens in somewhere in China and actually it is not that common... I think it is even became illegal to do that. We do eat something that most people from western countries won't eat those like the "inside parts" in the chicken/cow/pig body etc, but if they are cooked good, they taste great.

I don't think it's illegal in China to eat dogs or cat. As a matter of fact, dog meat was removed temporary from the menu during the olympic event in Beijing to not offend the westerners. I saw that in the news anyways.

That is definately crazy, but if you think about it in another country somewhere far away they might believe some of the things we eat are strange. i guess it all depends on your culture. Although fetus soup seems a bit out there. that's disgusting.
I too have sometimes wondered if the meat we buy from different restaurants or even stores is legit. It's kind of scary.

Most of the people here are right. Each country has a dark side. As long as they don't torture their food before eating them, I have no problems with it. They can eat whatever they want. My mom has a chinese friend and she said that cats are eaten there. They boil them alive or something of the sort. But there is animal violence everywhere. The way Japanese peopel kill daulphin and whales for their sushi or dishes is horrible. I also know that in some country they eat snake and they take the skin off alive. Even in canada, it was on the news that small chicks (chicken babies) have been suffocated in a plastic bag for fun. The chicken served on your plate has probably its beak cut off and plugged with a feeding tube. As long as meat is served, there will be animal cruelty.

Those are exotic! Actually they also do eat snake and I think that is part of their culture we just have to respect. In my own belief however, I don't think those exotic meats are clean. I believe they are dirty and would not even touch them just as I don't touch pork either because I know pork is just as dirty as those exotic meats.

u r talking about animals.
In UAE, they arrested 3 chinese men for abducting a 9 year old girl, who they were eating for days.
They got caught because they were hospitalized for vommitting.
Just imagine when the parents of that girl saw her pictures of cut into pieces.

I am Chinese and I was born and currently living in UK. I don't know all what we eat but I've never have had dog or cat and definitely have never had any Foetus in my soup. I have relatives living in Hong Kong and I have asked them about this stuff before and they have said that we don't. They say that its Koreans that eat dogs and some crazy people in Mainland China does it.
