I am going to try to do this through out the day and see if it helps with my constant stress. What you do is just consentrate on your surroundings and the moment for 10-30 minutes. I am goint to be doing this all day. I hope it helps! Have you ever tried it and did it help you?

I have never heard of this. My life is so hectic I wonder if I could set aside the time for it. I need to take time for myself. Maybe I will try this. What do you do if you can't concentrate?

Yes, I have practiced zazen (Zen meditation) for the last 30 years every day. It is about focusing on the breathing to the exclusion of all other thoughts. As a therapist, I also teach and encourage my clients to do this. I have a full description on my webpage here - http://tinyurl.com/4nqn4l - - Derek

Mindfulness Meditation. It is also known as "Insight Meditation". I practise that every evening, sitting meditation and walking meditation. And, I also guide some of my friends in practising that. It is an excellent way to relieve of stresses, and have your mind attain tranquility. That is a very good way for mental as well as physical health. I am very glad to hear you are practising that. You will feel the amazing power of meditation.

Hello moneymommy, I meditate nearly every day, at one time I used to be a very nervous and temperamental person but then I started meditating for other reasons but it DID and still does calm you down, it helps to make you relax more as you quieten your mind..meditation is exactly helping your mind to quieten down and focus on just music, or perhaps a sound-in doing that meditation takes away the clutter in your mind and helps in your everyday life to help you cope with things at one time really made you stressed out, you can also become more happy which happened to me. Obviously as with everything this doesn't happen overnight but through doing it meditating regularly then you will slowly see the results. Even Drs nowadays recommend meditating....hugs LoLo

Hi moneymommy. money,I've been suffering from General Anxiety?depression since I've been 6 years old.I am now 48.I do take Some Meds but not very much."Anymore",and it's exactly because of doing all the things your talking about Plus some.I use relaxation cassettes,It does wonders for me.I lie down in my bed and just let myself drift away.Listen to them carefully. But please watch out for the type of cassettes you'll use.Best thing is to get them from someone you know.I don't know your real name but ,please do this.Try to stay away from Meds as much as you can.But if you do need them,anti-depressants please, keep away from the barbiturates. I hope you well. Good luck and Regards. Denis T.

I have found that the best stress reliever is to sit or lay down and try to tune out the world, hear a song or music I really like, and concentrate on lowering my blood pressure. I especially try to do this when I go to the doctpr's office. I have been practicing doing this for years now and find that it does help dramatically.

I have heard of this and it makes sense to me. Any time you can consciously control your mind you can relieve the mindless stress that invades our lives. Blessings
