Do you feel public school children who do not go to church are missing out?

Missing out on a big part of the youth education that is needed in this country? A big deal has been made about America's schools falling so far behind the rest of the "modern world", does a lack of religion in the classrooms have anything to do with it?

no thats rubbish, i'm not religious at all and thats because i went to a catholic primary and high school. It make me so sick of having to say prayers before i went for lunch or having masses its the most boring thing, and i hate being forced at school to listen to stuff about the bible, i just felt i was being brainwashed so i'm glad i'm not at school and never have to listen to it again. And it hasn't affected me at all education wise i've just graduated from university

I am by no means trying to put down the public education, but there is truth in the fact that the education children get in a parochial or private school, is more advanced than in the public. My child is a pure example of that. He was in the 4th grade in a parochial school, when we decided to transfer him to a public school. When they tested him in the public school, we discovered that he was ahead of their 4th grade level. He was actually doing 6th grade work. Even if you consult with universities and colleges, they will tell you that private and parochial schools students tend to arrive with a much better start than those from public. So while you may have been sick of all the religious stuff that gave you in the catholic school system, you did get a better education out of it, enabling you to do well in the university. And there are some kids who came from 12 years of Catholic School who are still proud of their religion and faith; they took it with a grain of salt, and adapted to it, and still follow it today.

I think there is a lot to do with it. I heard that teachers tell them to believe that there is no God. This is not good. What is missing the most is there lack of closeness from God.

In that case, just adding church to your kid's week isn't enough because you have to undo alot of the "learning" that the school has already tried to give them. And every time they return to school they are going to get that alternate philosophy.

I think a lack of religion in schools, could definitely play a role in it. It seems that most kids of today are very disrespectful to their parents and most people they come in contact with. I think religion could help them and they could learn some morals too.
