I just found out a few minutes ago that Billy Mays had been found dead today, Sunday, June 28, 2009 in his Florida home! He was only 50 years old. Apparently on Saturday he was on an airplane and some stuff fell out of the overhead compartments and hit him on the head. His wife said he was not feeling well all day Saturday and still had not been feeling very well when he went to bed Saturday night.
Billy Mays was a pitchman, best known for his big booming voice and selling items such as OxiClean, Kaboom, Mighty Putty, and many others for years on those late night infomercials that came on.
He was well known for his thick man beard and his loud booming voice.
It is just awful that so many famous celebrities have died this week. First it was Ed MacMahon, then Farrah Fawcett, then Michael Jackson, and now Billy Mays. It makes you wonder if you were a celebrity you might just be thinking about checking into a hospital somewhere just in case.
It has been a very draining week. R.I.P. to all of these poor people and their untimely deaths.
Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

And don't forget about David Caradine earlier this month. Yeah I would suggest that all celebrities head straight for their doctors for a clean bill of health..The world has been shocked alot this month, even this year we have had many deaths this year. I do hope that there won't be any more for a long long time to come.

Hey schulzie! I thought I heard something about him, but I
didn't realize who he was! That is horrible! He got hit in
the head and went to sleep. That means he must have had a
concussion or something really bad from the hit on his head!
That is so terrible and he was alot younger than I thought
he was! You are right about the celebs having a bad week!
That is unbelievable! They say bad things happen in threes!
We are up to four now! His poor family must be in shock too!
I am so sorry to hear about this.

Woah! That's quite a list. These celebrities seem a bit young to meet their maker already. Sure Mr. Ed McMahon might be considered as 'ready'. Though he is still a bit young. The rest on that list really are too young to leave the mortal world..
May they rest in peace.

What I think disturbs me more than anything else, is that I sort of grew up with all of these people sort of in my life in a way, it feels as though I've lost distant family members.
Mikes music and video's have always being aired, he has been in the spotlight and is recognized by everyone. I followed his career as did my children for the last 40 years. And who hasn't seen or heard of David C., he's best known for the series 'Kung Fu' and more currently the movie 'Kill Bill'. And Ed is just a legend, it seems as though he has always been on T.V.. And then the new kid on the block was Billy but he is just as well known as the others because of his extremely popular info commercials. Oh, and don't let me forget Farrah, what can I say...
Gosh, these folks are gonna be greatly missed and forever in our thoughts...

I've seen him numerous times on different pitch shows and one things for sure, if he was pitching it, it was a good item. He was known for only pitching things he believed in. It's too bad that he, along with many others, had to die so soon.

I didn't hear about the stuff hitting him on the head but I know he was on that plane whose tires blew out at landing and figured he got bounced around a bit. My theory was that an undetected heart problem was triggered but now you said stuff fell on his head, I guess he must have gotten some head injury.
Just goes to show everyone--if you get hit in the head, go to the doctor!!!!!
Billy irritated the crap out of me but I hear he was honest and only pitched things he believed in and that actually worked.
Poor Mrs. Mays. At least the media vultures are busy with the Jackson family and won't be descending on her.
I bet she sues the airline--I would! Clearly, they have maintenance problems if they have tires blowing out on landing.

I had not heard about the tires blowing out on the airplane before. That is just horrible that they are not inspecting equipment on these commercial airlines yet they are right there to collect those high airfares!
And yes, you are right. Whenever you bump your head, whether it is bothering you or not the best thing to do is to go to the doctor just to make sure. You never know what might be wrong.
I would think that his wife would probably try to sue the airline now too.
Thanks for your comment and happy myLotting!!!

Hi schulzie, I got to thinking after I read your discussion topic that we have gone a really long time without anyone famous dying, and now it seems things are maybe catching up. It is shocking though. Thanks.
