Hey guys. I have been browsing the site and reading discussions and noticed an interesting fact. Some members would do anything to post a response that is over 4 lines long. The post is not informative in any way, but contains greetings upon greetings and ends with wishes for a nice day and happy mylotting. That bugs me. If a person has nothing to say in a discussion, then why not move on to the next one where the subject is more familiar? Please let me know your thoughts.

hi kate, well that is because some users here are only up for the earning... and most of us knows that to earn here with our posts is to make it longer. sometimes when they have opened a discussion and would not want to waste the time from opening it, they will just post anything so they can 'earn' from it. i have seen some of those too, and its a bit ... just let it pass, once you get to really go all over the place, you'll see that there are a lot of users here that can really post good responses. and also you will know which to avoid. just let those responses pass, and never mind them... well, have a nice day and happy mylotting.. .teeheeheehee

I know what you mean here. I have had people before respond to my discussions that did not have anything to do with my discussion. For me I aways try to respond pretaining to what the discussion is about. I will say that yes I always put a closure on the end because I feel that it is nice to know that people feel like people care about that you have a nice day or whatever else. I always tell people happy mylotting because I feel that they will have a happy day here. If not then I hope that it will help them have a happy day here or off here. But yes if that is all some people are going to do is say nothing but greetings and not much response about the discussion then move on to the next that will intrest you. You have a very good discussion here and keep up the great work. Happy Mylotting

Thanks for responding, you made me see the phrase from a diffent angle. It's just that sometimes the post closure comes across as somewhat insincere. If you f.e. respond to someone who has a health problem or goes through a difficult time in their life, it's probably better to comfort them or just say 'hang in there'. Happy mylotting doesn't save the day.

I like it when people say that at the end of a post. I think it's friendly. However I know what you mean. It bugs me when people reply to my topics and clearly don't have a clue what they're even talking about. I only ever respond to discussions that I think I can make a good contribution to. I don't bother otherwise.

Welcome to the Lot katka . . I see you are new here. .but my hat goes off to you for making an early very insightful observation! It is true that there is alot of that around here. . .but there is also the reverse. . .for in my short time here I have found some very smart and informative friends here.. sure on some discussions you may see some "playing" but overall you will get the knack of who and where to find a good discussion. Go with your gut .. you seem to be right on target. .and I have a feeling you will find your way around here in no time! Hope you enjoy your Lotting as much as I do

wow, thanks for the nice words. I am fairly new here, joined a couple of weeks ago. I am not much of a poster but I do read what other people have to say. I sometimes respond when I feel like it, although it doesn't happen very often :) I'm still on the hunt for those good discussions.

Like I said before, I just joined mylot recently, yesterday to be exact. Maybe it will take a while until I get a hang of this haha. But I do think that posting just for earning money is just... absurd? XD It's been a while since I participated in forums like this, and I think this is a nice opportunity to delve into it again. I hope I will have a lot fun with this site like many members do ;) And yes, money is just bonus, after all, you get the thrill of having discussion with people who have the same interests with you, don't you? ;)

Hi shinatan, thanks a bunch for jumping into the discussion :) and thanks for joining the Lot, I sent you a little welcome note. Spot on! Not everything is about money. It is nice to chat with other people and hear what they have to say without expecting to get paid for every single post. Have fun browsing the site and... -- happy mylotting :D

Thank you! I have read your message, thanks for telling me the secret of mylotting haha XD Yes, instead of typing like we are digging mines, I feel we should be more honest with ourselves and enjoy posting just because we want to post, not because we see the glimmer of money on every post we make haha. Nice to meet you and once again, thank you! :D

The thing I found funny was that the first response to this used a greeting to you:) I have to agree. It bugs me when I read the "Happy Mylotting." What is that all about? I never actually thought of it as someone trying to make their post longer. You certainly got this one right!

I know that sometimes I overdo it on the wishing people the best here online, and especially on mylot. I'm sincere with what I put, although I guess sometimes I'm not as sincere, or not sincere but am trying to be nice. I can understand your annoyance of line after line of greetings and best wishes without the real juice of a topic. I guess though it's just that people are trying to write as many lines as possible, and don't realize that it's quality as well. Also you've got to take into consideration English language and the fact that some people aren't as good at it. Well I hope your having fun here!

It is an interting topic that I never seen here! I have seen alot of time in the responses in the discussions too but I don't really care as long as they do write their views about the topics and work around the topics; sometimes I can tell they don't even look at the content though so I will jsut skip it and move on to the next response because I understand that lot sof people on mylot just want to keep posting and reach their payout so I odn't want to be a pain in a neck to judge how they response, when I get response, I am just happy to hear the sharings and help my earnings! Anyway, I hope you can find some fun here! :-)

That is just normal here. I myself do use the word Happy Mylotting at the last sentence of my message to encourage a person here, i don't mean anything negative on that. About the nonsense four lines long? hhmmm which isn't helpful, well that depends on such user since they know that one liners here will be deleted so they intend to write longer for them to be credited, although sad to say they weren't helpful to you as you see them do that. You will get annoyed if someone really responded at your query which is not really informative and helpful. But what to do? its peoples opinion that counts here, we are free to say what is our opinion and share what we really had in mind. Even if people say sorry, we cannot help you because we cant relate but still have a courtesy to drop by to your topic and say that, i guess that would not bug you right?

Hi. I don't mind if a person uses happy mylotting at the end of a 'normal' post ;) And I agree that people are free to say whatever they want as long as they don't insult others. What I'm referring to in this topic are posts like the example below: Hi xy. Welcome to Mylot (even if the person has hundreds of posts). I love this site very much. I hope you enjoy it here. I hope we can all make much money. I love posting at this site and I love sending private messages. I wish you a very nice day and I wish you happy mylotting. ^ imagine seeing the exact same post as a reply to a topic about Michael Jackson, Soccer, movies you watched over the weekend and every other imaginable topic. It's weird.

I don't mind people bundling a "Happy mylotting" and "Have a nice day" along with some interesting response that they had just posted........its like some people make it a signature of theirs.........it makes the post look more neater and nicer.......but yes if people just say I agree and then say have a nice day that would probably not fit the bill......specially if something serious is being discussed.........but to be honest it does not bug me, its their way of responding and it really does me no harm........its good to see greetings and wishes fly by......... have a nice day !!!!

lol hope you have a nice day, too. I don't mind getting a few wishes now and then, don't get me wrong. But I see the same people posting almost the same responses to every discussion... and I find it annoying ;)

I also say happy mylotting, but I don't just post domb answers, at least I don't think I do. I wouldn't' have the rating I do if I did that all the time. I can understand what you are saying though as there are some that post just to be posting and it really has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. Those are the ones that are just here for the money, and trying to get it anyway they can. I hope I am not one of them as I am here to help people and the money is just a bonus. Welcome to mylot, have a good day, and happy mylotting.

Well from what I read you seem to be in the knowing what to do group. You are doing very well, so your not one of those people. Now that you know, you can go into discussions with confidence that you are doing things right. Happy Mylotting

That is exactly what I had in mind. I don't like posting just for the sake of posting. If a post is all right, the last sentence doesn't matter all that much.

Agreement. It's really annoying to see posts that have more words of greeting than actual content. Or worse, all greetings and no content. It's also annoying when people respond to every reply to their discussion with the same generic thank-you message and no content. I see a bit of that too on this site.

It's ridiculous but there are people that will do that just to earn a couple of pennies. It must get pretty boring after a time. Most of the ones that do that, fade away pretty quickly. It's a lot of time, boring and not worth it.

They are doing that because longer responses are counted as more significant responses. Respones that are less than 4 lines long are not considered quality responses and will now count for as much of a pay out as shorter ones. That is why they are really trying hard to get at least 4 lines. Of course they could do this, three times to extend out to one more line if they are short on what they have to say. But most people probably don't realize that.
