I am visiting my daughter in East Peoria. Word came out that an East Peoria soldier had died in Afgahnistan. He and another soldier were killed by a bomb that blew up their vehicle. His body was flown to Peoria airport and the procession brought him to an East Peoria funeral home. Friends of my daughters went and stood alongside the road to pay their respects to this man. They said there were anti-war protesters there shouting at the cars as the body went by, followed by the mans family.
These ignorant people are in my opinion shameful and an absolute disgrace - this man was serving his country and because of that lost his life. I was born and raised in England - I was a small child during WW2 - until one has endured something such as thius, in my opinion they have no clue what it is like - yes 9/11 was pn US soils - but daily bombing has never been - men like Sgt Smith of East Peoria fight overseas to prevent wars affecting the USA. Instead of protesting people should be giving thanks.

Yes, it IS shameful and I'm sorry that your Duaghter ha to witness such a thing. People have evey right to speak out against war and protest, but there's a time and place for it. Causing a ruckus as the body of a victim is being brought homeis NOT the time or the place and these people should be ashamed of themselves. Similar things happened when troops came back from the Vietnam War too. Some protestors even spat on them and called them baby killers and the like. It's terrible behaviour and totally uncalled for. RIP Sgt Smith.

I agree completely. In my opinion, every single one of the protesters should have been arrested. If they cannot show any respect for the man that gave his life to save theirs, they have no business being in this country. They should be made to go serve. Bet they would change their minds then.
