How often you clean your ear with cotton buds?

Do you clean and roll a cotton bud in your ear daily? Some would say it's not healthy to do it everyday? Why?

Every time I take a shower I take a q-tip and swab the water and whatever out. I know they say not to do that but it hasn't hurt me so far. I have never had a doctor tell me that there was wax build up in my ears. The only time I can't clean my ears is when I'm having sinus trouble, everything swells up and I can't get a q-tip in my ear and it'll be so sore. I think I have large ear canals.

Since you've mentioned sinusitis, which is an infection to the inner part of nose and other air passage for breathing connected to the eyes and head according to my friend who studied on this field, sinus trouble is caused by chemical or harmful agents from sprays, cologne, perfume, dust etc., those may pass also through the ears.

I live in southeast Georgia and this is prime sinus trouble country. Seems like there is something blooming and pollinating 12 months out of the year, then there is the humidity. I know when the barometric pressure is suddenly rising or dropping because out of no where it'll feel like a band tightening around my forehead. Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone that doesn't have trouble from time to time. The best thing we have done is to replace our carpet with laminate Flooring. I doubt I'll ever want to have carpet again. The difference in the dust is amazing. If it was a ten before, it's a one now, I'm not kidding.

Well, I'm going to tell you something.I not used to clean my ears often, just because I am a bit lazy, but the last month I got a very bad ear infection with pain and all of that stuff.I went to the doctor and he told me I should keep my ears clean using a cotton bud from time to time (not everyday)Maybe If you use it in a rough way you can injury your ears,I´m not sure .and I think it´s working fine for me.I feel now my ears better and clean

Oh! That would serves as a lesson to all. Aha! So it's the proper way of cleaning, should be regularly, after all without hearing this information I would be hesitating to clean it on time, fear to damage my ear I do only 3 times in a week.

If you try to clean your ear with a cotton bud what you're actually doing is push a lot of the wax further back to the back of your ear rather than cleaning it up. There are some sprays available that make ear wax soft and thus make it easier to remove. I think that's healthier, provided you do so only once a week or something.
