Albert Einstein, every one knows that he is the greatest scientist of all the time. He was a great thinker too. He used to be too deep in his experiments that he keep thinking about such things all the times and so he didn't have the real time to concentrate on what he is actually doing. Even it is said that few time he is subjected for psychiatric treatment sometimes.
Yesterday I read some interesting incidents about Einstein...
Once, he was walking under the rain. And when the rain stopped and he tried to close his umbrella, he noticed that he did not have umbrella in his hand. And then he remembered that he had forgot to take the umbrella from the shop he brought his cigarette.
Albert Einstein had told his assistant not to tell his address to the people. And the telephone rang one day asking the assistant about the address of Einstein. But the assistant refused to tell because he was said not to tell to anyone. Again and again the telephone rang asking for the address. Finally caller said, "Don't bother to tell the address to me. I am Albert Einstein myself. I have forgotten my address."
Well these incidents shows that how deep he is in his own thinking all the time. And the history has the the great scientists are always forgetful, though they are really intelligent.
So what do you think, those who are intelligent, they can be so much forgetful. Like forget where did he/she kept a thing just a minute ago. Gone to receive something and when reached forgot why he/she is there?
Thanks in advance for the response...

Hi Nzal, I dont think they "forget" the minor things, I think they do not even bother to remember it in the first place.
When they do not want to remember anything, they do not have a chance to forget.
Sometimes when you talk to someone, you know that that person is not listening. Usually the guys in the family will not want to know whether there is enough cooking oil or salt, they dont want to remember all these, because it is not important to them.
So if they do not want to remember, they have nothing to forget.

Hello Scheng1!!!
Don't mind, I am commenting on this discussion after long time. I am really getting lazy...
About cooking, I also don't know and don't remember much. But the things are different here. The minor things include the very thing that every one do in their daily life, no matter how intelligent they are. Like I mentioned in the story of Einstein, forgetting the umbrella, that was very much minor thing. The same thing he may not forget always. Only because his mind is just busy in another thing. Our mind is never capable of parallel processing though multitasking is possible haha...May be the mind of mind got stuck in heavy program that it got hang there...
There are people who forget within few seconds where they kept the particular thing which was in their hand a minute ago. Sometimes, this happens to me too. I just forget because that may be asmll thing and I may be thinking something else while I keep down that thing...
Thanks for your response...Happy mylotting...

haha scheng1, such thing happen to me even more. My mind doesn't really get any time to think about where I keep the keys. When I enter the room, I may keep the key anywhere in the room when I am thinking something else or I may be singing as I enter the room. And then when it is the time to leave the room, then the hunting of the key starts. It is never at the same place, I may keep it anywhere and sometimes, like you said, it may also take half an hour to search it haha...
Happy mylotting...

Hi Nzal, sometimes we do those routine things so frequently that we never really pay attention.
Most of the times I put the keys on my table, and forget about it. Manage to find the keys within a minute most of the time, sometimes forget that I put the keys in the kitchen, because I wanted to get a glass of water. Got to spend half an hour hunting for the stupid keys.

My mother used to work for the Applied Physics Lab, which was part of Johns Hopkins University and she worked with some of the smartest people on the planet...who didn't have enough common sense to come in out of the rain. She used to laugh about the things that these folks did...or forgot to do...or didn't know how to do...and she had to help them when they earned three times what she did because of their big brains.

Great minds never have room for petty things.Your story about my favorite Einstein has proved it again.Once a person matures when, he starts to live for a cause and when he stops living for what others think about him he tends to forget the minor things.

Yes, you are right. The people who have true determination in what they want to do severly, they tend to forget other things. We can also be in that stage.

Well I have a classmate way back in high school who's the same as Einstein. True he's one of the brightest student in our batch but most of the time he can't understand simple jokes that only needs common sense =D

I believe that the capacity of the brains of every individual is roughly the same. That is to say, your brain, my brain, Einstein's brain should be roughly the same. So, for those talented people, tThere are simply so much great ideas in their brains that those little things are too minor to consume any space in their brains.

Perhaps, you are right. There are many such examples of great people who keep forgetting minor things. Also there are people who are very good at remembering the minor things but can't think so deep about anything. Thanks for your response and sorry for late reply. happy mylotting...
