Hello!
I was recently at a large music festival. And in the crowds, there were so many people smoking. It was impossible to avoid the smoke, as it wasn't much space. And while standing there, I realized that I hate being a passive smoker, I really can't stand smoke.
A few years ago, we got a new law here in Norway, that makes it illegal for people to smoke in public places. And I find this law genius. Why should several people be affected by a single persons urge to smoke?
My question is, are you allowed to smoke in public places where you live?

yes it is allowed but it is not allowed inside the malls. I smoke but rather do it outside our house and not on public places. I am a responsible smoker if there is such word for that coz first I dont want others to smell the smoke that that comes out from my mouth and dont want others to have a bad health because of me thats why I call myself a responsible smoker

I wish every smoker would be a "responsible smoker" :) Would be great if everyone that smokes would care about those around them.

We go no smoking at the beginning of 2010 but can't see anyone taking much notice of it or anyone implementing the law as most Greeks smoke and certainly don't like being told what to do. There are no smoking signs in the tax office just above the conveniently place ashtrays but everyone still smokes, the general concensus here is that it is a terrible law but like most others will probably be ignored.

Well, I think that the country that smokes most in the world is Greece, so it would be hard to change. But it should be changed.

Yes, smoking is allowed in the public places where I live. It doens't bother me as long as the smokers won't blow their smokes straight on my face. It would be awesome if smoking is completely banned but I'm sure lots of smokers will act miserably...

Everywhere you go these days , you see people smoking and people are not arrested or question but when people drink in public places, they are often fines and i wonder why people would be arrested for drinking in public but are not arrested for smoking in the public, that is just a show of hypocrisy

There is a law against smoking in public places in my country as well. Thank God for that. I really hate smoking and like you have no desire to share in anyonees smoking rituals.
Transport personels (drivers etc) and passengers can no longer light up as they pleae. This as been so for quite some time now I think it has become more like a norm.

Yes. We are allowed to smoke in public place, even inside the mall. lol. just don't let the guard see you smoking. There's no punishment though.

Inside the mall too? That must be annoying if you are a non smoker yourself.

In my country laws are not in place to ban people from smoking in public places as it is in some countries. It really annoys me when I see someone smoking anywhere, anytime without regard to other people. Passive smoking is as bad as real smoking they say. I hate this. I wish such laws were put in place just to squeeze this out of the public places.

Well now a days smoking is allowed everywhere in a place where I live but I think smoking in public places should be banned and there should be a fine on those who do so. It makes a bad impression especially on kids they usually follow their elders and sometime they started doing the same thing at very early stage of their life. Smoking in public parks and places where there are children present will be strictly prohibited.

I smoke, I live in Canada. It's pretty impossible for me to smoke anyplace public.
I pretty much am outside most of the time. But agree with you, you shouldn't have to suffer
because I have a bad habit. I guess that sounds crazy but that's just how I feel.

We are not allowed to smoke in public places that are sheltered. We are allowed to smoke in public if things arent covered. I do smoke but have never really smoked outside around others that dont smoke as I think its unfair to put my lifestyle choices onto others. I think its a good law but not for all people.
