It couldn't be avoided if you are using public transport. I encountered this every time i goes home to my hometown in a bus. Someone on the side lean on me, but i did not bother to wake her up or done so anything. I let her to lean on my shoulder although i am disgusted. I just keep quite.

If that would happen that the person fall asleep on my shoulder open mouthed and something falling i would stand up suddenly so that the person will be amused that may wake up in the sleep. It is not good as you said bad scenario because that something that falls down smells bad. I would be disgusted. and don't know what will happen next if he/she react on what i did.

It happened to me sometime when I used to travel 40 kilometers daily to work. I used to ride on a van-for-hire and the person beside me would fall asleep and lean heavily on my side. uhuh, heavily so, I would just gently push or I would try to move forward so he'll wake up and find that he has fallen asleep. Worse case scenario was when somebody who was fast asleep and his mouth was wide open, anticipate what would come out hehehe and it falls on you, eeww

That's a REALLY difficult situation, And it's nice you're discussing it (:P) Well.. I WOULD not like it at all, But waking someone else.. Naw.. So I'll just try to move a bit, So as to not to wake him, But move his head off, If he wakes up, Then all right, I'll tell him about it :) I think everyone should try this.. Why disturb someone who's sleeping? (tell me if you agree with me:P)

To move the slumberer a bit, not a bad idea. I would probably do it. Basically it's because no stranger should sleep on my shoulder. heh

Being a person who doesn't readily engage in physical contact from friends (I am not the kind of person to be openly affectionate with regards to hugs or kisses) I would find this behaviour to be completely deplorable. It would totally put me out of my depth, I would feel very uncomfortable, nervous even. Sort of an invasion of my personal space I guess. Put yourself in the shoes of the person who is sleeping. How would you feel if you woke up on a stranger's shoulder? I would be mortified! It's something I would never have dreamt of doing. If however, I had no choice in the situation and this did happen to me, I would likely make some kind of loud gesture such as a cough that I would hope would wake the slumberer from their dreams or would perhaps move to another available seat. If I was meant to be slept upon, I would be a bed. I only just feel comfortable allowing my partner to sleep upon my shoulder and I find it to be a very intimate practise that I would not like to share with a complete and utter stranger. Not to mention the dribblers! To be honest, though, I don't understand people who sleep whilst using public transport. Fair enough on a plane, or an excessively long train journey where there are hours to kill ... but otherwise, how will they know where their stop is?!

Lol, Coughing to wake people up, Yeah it's what i've tried too you know.. If you can't move them up, and don't really want to wake them like "HEY YOU!! NOOB! WHY ARE YOU ON MY SHOULDER!!!" (lol for the example), then just give a cough, a sneeze, start talking to someone a bit loudly if you're travelling with someone, Else i try to KEEP PEOPLE AWAKE IN SUCH SITUATIONS, :P

I have to say, it is funny, but also because I have been in such a situation of a person falling asleep on my shoulder AND also me being the person falling asleep on another person's shoulder! Really I don't think anyone would really ever wanna do it intentionally, it's not a good feeling to wake up and see you just sorta slept on somebody else's shoulder, someone you barely know, on a moving public transport! In my situation before, I guess I was so tired in the bus, I can't help but keep falling asleep although I tried hard not to, and I felt bad for the person sitting near me - looking like, 'how do I rub this person off?' Definitely need a candy to keep me awake in public transports at such exhausting moments, sigh...

Well, I had never been such a situation before. However, there are cases where the person next to me was sleeping and the person did slightly almost leaned against me. I didn't know if that's their reflex action, but before that, they will sort of wake up and jerk their head back to the original position. After that, they will continue sleeping again... I had also seen once before on the above scenario. It happened to another person in front of me. Well, she certainly looked very uncomfortable when the other person leaned over her side and slept on her shoulder. The next thing I know is that she moved a bit over to the other side. The other person who was sleeping on her shoulder sort of wake up and immediately sit up straight. I guess if it's me, I will most likely try and move a bit too, so that hopefully the person will wake up, and move back to their original sitting position. I do feel that it's uncomfortable to have a stranger sleeping on your shoulder, especially it's one of the opposite gender.

This is a very tough question. haha... Or it is tough just in my case... I think even if he unintentionally fell asleep in my shoulder, i will still wake him up and tell him politely about it. Haha

The story is really funny though, I will never allow anyone except my family on my shoulder to sleep. The situation would be really funny if you make that strangers awake all the time..

this is a really funny situation indeed. i would wake the person up so they would move their head away from my shoulder. i don't know about others, but i'm the type of person that does not like people touching my body with anything from their body, especially if i don't know them.
