I have a choclate lab (she's now 3) but, when she was a puppy, she would eat hers as well. It was yucky anyways my vet told me to put meat tenderizer on her stool and she won't eat it. I tried it and it worked, she didn't. I believe I did that for about a month (I wanted to make sure the habit was broke). I don't know why dogs do that except maybe to clean up after themselves. Anyway give it a try it might work for you as well.

This is actually common with many animals. If you want to stop it, they do sell a powder that you put either on the poop or in their food, I think it is the later, that makes their poop taste bad. Yes, I know, how in the world can poop ever taste good??!? To animals, I guess it can and this stuff makes it so they no longer want to eat it. I am pretty sure that you can buy it at almost any pet store. My Mom used it when her collie was doing the same thing and it did work.

It's not an issue as long as he doesn't have worms, or isn't eating other dog's poop. It's ok for dogs to eat their own poop, as long as theirs no worms. Dog digest thing different. So, a lot of their nutrients is still in their poop.

thanks a lot. i was kinda worries because he doesn't have a good appetite lately as much as before. i was suspecting that its because of the poop he's eating.
i think he tries to eat his poop because he's afraid to get scolded when i get to see it.

i read in a magazine that puppies tend to eat their poops because it has some sorta nutrients with it. And its not a problem. don't worry.Ü
