I knew it was coming but it is still sad.

My parents have two dogs. One is a collie and the other is a mini pinscher. The collie, bless her heart is quite old. She has been having more and more health problems in the last couple of years, and now, the poor girl can hardly even stand or walk on her own. She is definately suffering and the time has come for her to leave us. I live pretty far away so when the actual time comes, I won't be there, which is sad to me because I really love this dog. Have any of you gone through this with a family pet?

My granma has a chihuahua. He is around 13 years in human years. She has had him a while. My uncle was the previous owner. Last month he had a seizure. The vet said he was getting old. We know he may not have much longer but its sad to even think about it.

I absolutely have, this is a sad time for many people, and i was no different. My shetland sheepdog Haley was my first dog that we raised from a puppy and when she was only 4 yrs old she was hit by a car, after months of money spent on surgery she finally recovered almost fully, except that she had a permanent limp. after five more years, old age got the best of her and she passed away. After going through so much with her, it was hard to believe that she was gone, but you must keep a positive attitude towards it and see that her end is just a new beginning for her. If she cant walk or stand then she is probably miserable and its time for her to go, she will be in a much better place.

Yes, I've had to "put down" two of my dogs because they were so old and beginning to suffer. Hector was 18 and Domino was 13, the latter had a stroke and was paralyzed. It is heart wrenching but it's something I did because I loved my dogs and didn't want them to suffer. When the time comes for the two I have now and they don't pass on their own, I'll do the same for them. Because I love them so much. And I know they'll be waiting for me when it's my time. My condolences to your family. Losing a beloved pet is worse than non-pet lovers know. It's losing a best friend.

Hey Lynn, Don't be sad. From the first day you meet this dog, you will know she will left you someday. So does peopel around you. But the most improtant things is you've been with this dog for many years, and there are lots of fun momories that you have with her. Don't worry, she is not going anywhere, she is going to heaven for her is a such good dog. Peace to her.
