Go to www.ubuntu.com then press download. Once the download is finshed burn the files downloaded to a disk. Then put the disk into the computer you want to install ubuntu on. Put the disk in then restart your computer. The disk drive will auto-play and the computer will read the disk. Then complete the installation.

You can have both os on your computer and so you can choose which on cnabe suitable for you depending from what you want do as well!!
So to install ubuntu on your pc you just download the os from ubuntu website ...the download you cna put ona cd for example and it is a file image after you finished to download you can extract the setup from the file image and so starting your installation too!!I f you like more have a cd you cna order for free on ubuntu website too!!
So if you want install ubuntu but not deleting your windows os too..when installing ubuntu just choose the parition you want assign to ubuntu and so in that the os will run ...adter that just complete your installation and when you will restart you cna have the choice to boot your compute ron windows or ubuntu os!!
You can lauch ubuntu os even from a cd or pendrive if you like more and so not installing the os on your pc...surely this cna be not the full version..because full one need to insyall all and take i think 7.5gb of disk space!!This last feature may be should b easy to the first look on ubuntu and theis os without installing it completely!!

Have you made a firm decision? Maybe it is better to have a look and feel before making a complete cross over.
If you want to try using Ubuntu while having your Windows system intact you can have it installed under Windows. To do so go to www.sofpedia.com. Type 'wubi' in the search box. Read the instructions before downloading Wubi.
Basically it helps to install Ubuntu under Windows. Doing this will give us a chance to choose which OS we want to go to on boot-up;
