i just don't get it, why Pres Arroyo would go down to her level by running as congressman for next year election. I mean, She already reached the peak of her career as the president and now shes considering of getting a local position? huh? what for? what is your take on this?

What's wrong with that? Mayor Alfredo Lim went back as the mayor of Manila without finishing his term as Philippine senator. And in the local scene, Congressmen run again as municipal mayor or provincial governor after their term in house of representatives. So what's the real issue if Gloria Arroyo wants to be a congressman of Pampanga?
This is where political maturity should took place. Let politicians do their politicking, but above all, let the voters grow and learn who and what they are voting for.

The premise here is the same. You are moving from a higher to a lower position. And there's no law prohibiting that move. If we are talking about "delicadeza", I don't think Gloria and her company has other meaning for that.
Well, as a private citizen, you can only do so much. You will spend time there and sometimes, you have to sacrifice and shell out something from your pockets. As a government official, specially if you are in the House of Congress, you can pretend to be helping people and appear to be very generous while using the tax payer's money.
I do hope many of our kababayans will realize that politicians want to be in the position because they want to serve the people. That's a pure crap. Only a few are true to their calling as public servants and still, some of them get corrupted as they taste power. Even the so called sectoral representatives have a changed lifestyle after years in congress.

well, she just happens to be the president of the republic, and its the highest position ever for a public servant. If Pres. Gloria's intention is really to help, she can be a private citizen or work with the NGO. I mean, give others a chance. you can be of much help to your country men if you come out clean and honest to your dealings.

Well it is just a way for her that she remain immune from prosecution since if she would win as Congresswomen in her district her immunity is also extended further and if she is elected to become the Prime Minister then she can become as powerful as she is right now. That is if Conass would succeed to pursue they could even stop the election now that Comelec is in trouble in automating the elections in 2010 because of a problem that arouse in the local counterpart of the foreign firm that partnered with them.

well for me this is my theory, congress will to charter change and will change the presidential system with the parliamentary system.
parliamentary system like some country, the head of state is voted not by ordinary people but by a house or congress that its members are elected by the masses or ordinary people.
after GMA will get elected as congressman they will elect here as the prime minister.
but how about the upcoming election? well they can also get it too. their can be a president and a prime minister. it is just a matter of stating who is above who and such.
so in the end the people will get an election and gloria will still be in power.
one clue i got is from the dept of justice gonzales about GMA running for congress WATCH this clip again i think its from abs-cbn

This might be just a hearsay, but it still infuriates many Filipinos. Like what you said , she had reached the peak of her career by becoming the President of the country. I guess, power is really very addictive. Even if you haven't been contributing much, one would still want to stay in power.

It's the same cycle over and over again. i do hope that Kapampangans(Filipino Ethnic tribe) find a new candidate that would challange GLORIA"s next line of career. why can she just give up politics and allow others to move forth the make a difference themselves.

she is actually hoping for con-as to succeed so she can be elected as prime minister again. that is the main goal of all her allies. but that will only be a dream for con-as i believe will never come to reality. if she remains in power , she can still hide on the blanket of authority to protect her from all the accusations she and her family might got into.
