I'm still having the hibbie jibbies!! YUCK!! Hubby had gone to bed and I was watching tv and took a sip of my coffee after just eating a sandwich with just about everything imaginable on it. Well I felt something in my mouth and when I spit it out on my finger I thought it was a black olive and put it in the ashtray and THAT'S when I realized what the hell it was!! It was a damned fly!! I gagged and sputtered and ran to the bathroom to wash my mouth out and nearly puked!! Hubby got up to see what was the matter and here I was bent over the sink washing my mouth out with soap and on the third time I told him what happened and he's laughing at me! I so wanted to throw a shoe at him!! Then I rinsed my mouth out with Listerine and gosh, my gag reflexes were working over time!! BLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NASTY!!!!!!!!!! Finally I go back to the living room just spitting and a sputtering and hubby's laughing at me the whole time and making fun of me so I told him that revenge is sweet!!!!!! He just laughed and went back to bed!! DAMN B@STARD!! NOT FUNNY!! So I took my hearing aids out and turned the volume up on the tv so he couldn't sleep!! NOW LAUGH AT ME!! WHO'S the bigger one NOW?? After a few minutes knowing the volume could break the tv, LOL, I turned it down and put my aids back in. I'll never ever again drink anything until I check it first!!!! Have you ever had this happen to you? Please don't tell me I'm the only one!! GROSS!!

Isn't it a fact that the average person swallows around 8 spiders per year in their sleep. Cringe ;)

They ARE gross!! They land on poo then want to land on us!! Ewwwww!! One night hubby's friend and his wife took us out to dinner and when I got my meal, there was a stinking fly in my potato having it's share of MY meal!! You better believe it that I called the waitress back to get me another one STAT! LOL But last night, I really thought it was a black olive! I really did till I saw a wing and I knew right then what it was.... where's that green face, mylot has to make one of those!! I actually washed my mouth out with soap THREE times!! Then listerine! I made sure listerine was in my mouth to burn and burn good!! LMBO!! Now one other time I swallowed something but not sure exactly what it was but I was standing in my parents driveway at their old house and was talking to someone and went to take a breath and this thing flew right into my mouth and so far back in my throat that I couldn't get it out!! I gagged and tried so hard to get it out and it wouldn't budge so I had no choice but to swallow it. I couldn't eat anything after that for it would come back into my mind like something was flapping it's wings in my stomach!! YUCK!! Now this fly incident, I've found them in my drink before but this is the FIRST EVER for it to go inside my mouth! GAG!!

I think I've mentioned before that my former roommate twice had things fly into her mouth and down her throat. And BOTH times it was on the way to church and we were fasting

LOL--my goodness never a dull moment with ya, huh? I've had all kinds of bugs in my drinks, whether my coffee, juice, whatever...like Elic mentioned finding a cockroach in her drink when she had already drank most of it...uh, huh, had that a number of times, or flies---I must be weird as it doesn't gross me out that much...I just throw the half full cup or glass out with the remainder of the coffee or juice, rinse it out and pour out some fresh--hey I've probably have swallowed a fair share of bugs and not realize it...

I guess it was how I was raised, my grandparents always had a fly swatter in their hands and in turn, so did my mom so I grew up knowing they're gross and is why I react like I do. Besides, flies land in poo of all things!! Then want to land on us and our food? I don't think so!! LMBO!! I wish I could be a little more laid back like you but I can't stand them no way no how!! LOL BLA!!!! LOL

You were suppose to lie Jo!! LOL You're suppose to make me feel better and tell me it happened to you too!! LMBO!! Gosh girl!! That wasn't a dull moment, trust me on that!! It was a scene from hell!! LOL I couldn't go to bed til well after 2am because of that!! I didn't want such an image on my mind before falling asleep besides, my nerves wouldn't let me go to sleep anyways!! So I stayed up and played a few games on the computer till I was about to fall over. Thank God I didn't dream about it but I sure did remember when I first got up this morning!!

OMG! That is terrible and the fact that your hubby laughed at you too is crappy! I would be more likely to be gagging for you than laughing at you as that would make me quesy and in fact it has made me feel a little sickly thinking about it!

Mary Beth, It could have been worse. I know, flies are disgusting but it could have been a spider or roach. But no matter what it was, as long as it was alive, it had to be gross. Creepy crawly!!! I've had small flies fly into my mouth but that is all I can lay claim to. Maybe you should stick to tea? LOL

Hey cats! I'm sure we've all had that happen! Haven't we? Well, I have! I've either had a bug in my mouth from something that I caught when my big mouth was open or from something that I drank that was already in the glass! I have heard mylotters tell their sad stories about drinking something strange and doing the same thing that you did! They also rinsed with whatever they could and gaged and spit! So don't worry, you are so not alone on this one! We've all been there and done that! Those damn critters just know how do ruin a really great meal don't they?

That was really a funny lesson that we can all get lesson from. On my side, this has not yet happened to me since I always check first before I put the food inside my mouth. But even I always check everything I eat and drink, there is one thing that I have not really checked, it's the expiry date. Especially for the preserved foods and drinks.

It's prolly happened to me before, but with smaller bugs. And I swallowed 'em. Flies are just nasty though, I can understand why you flipped out.

I had a friend like you but this time its worst. He ordered a ake out drink from one of the fast food chains here. As usually it has a lid covering it. My friend sucked the softdrinks using a straw... after a while he notices that there is nohing comming out of his straw anymore, when the Large Cup is still half full. So he opened the lid to check out what was wrong. He was shocked to find out that there was a cockroach stucked in his straw. He went home brushed his teeth and even wanted to remove his tongue and all the passage ways to clean it up (if only that was possible). He wanted to sue the company but how can you prove it is from that food chain when you went out of there premise after getting your order.

Yes. I check the electric kettle every time I use it this time of year. Imagine my DISGUST when after I made and drank my coffee and check the level in the kettle to see if it needs water only to find a well boiled fly in it. GROSSSSSSS! So, yeah, I check everything before I put it in my mouth. And I don't leave food out even for a minute. I put it in the microwave or the oven or fridge. Here's one for the hubby. Yes, revenge is sweet, no I didn't do this on purpose, it just happened.... I warmed up a meatloaf plate for the hubby, with all the fixins. It was his plate that was leftover from supper the night before. AFTER he ate 90% of it, he found a well cooked fly. So, it was KARMA turning it's head for me, and getting HIM BACK for thinking how funny it was when I found the fly in the kettle. I LAUGHED my everloving Azz off, in payback for how funny he thought it was when I was grossed out about the fly in the kettle incident. You see, he had left his plate out without covering it, not my fault.
