to surprise or not?

My friend from Malaysia is going back to the Philippines on Sunday. However, she would like to surprise her guy but the guy insisted to get her flight details so he can pick her up at the airport.
The guy guessed that her girl will be there on Saturday and he's been telling her that she'll wait on Saturday at the airport. So do you think that my friend needs to tell her boyfriend that she's really coming on Sunday? What about the feeling of excitement? Help!

well, seems to me that your friend should tell the guy her flight info. i mean, the element of surprise is still there. he already knows that she will be coming to visit, so he is already exited to see her. if your friend just show up at the airport and then call him to make it a surprise, then your friend will have to wait for the guy to pick her up. what if he is at work? what if he is busy? what the girl's flight is at 1:30pm and the guy is busy until 5:30pm? she would have to wait like 4 hours wouldn't she?
