I would say that you can learn nearly everything you need to, free of charge, by visiting sites such as proBlogger. You will find a good selection of articles which step you through what it takes to make it in the world of blogging and Darren Rowse who runs the site is one of the most successful bloggers in the world and talks a lot about his personal experience making it as a blogger. What you can also do is buy a couple of books to use as a reference but I definitely wouldn't invest in a course for blogging, especially as there is so much quality free information on the net.

There is at least one MyLot user who will help you get started. She has a blog about it and she is really nice. I keep intending to take her up on it, and she has given me suggestions, so I would not pay someone to teach me. I would talk to her.
