Ok question? What do you do with your leftover food? Do you put them away for the next day or do you let it sit outside on the stove? I just heard a story that really got me sick in the stomach. A person made sauce on Sunday now today two days later its still on the stove and the family will eat it. How about this fried chicken about 10 piece are leftover and left again on the stove uncovered all night. That person comes home from work the next day and eats it. I find this so unsanitary and disgusting how about you?

It's a wonder they don't get food poisoning eating things that have set out like that overnight. I wouldbe afraid to eat it. Peole do strange things & dangerous things.

Well I'm not eating anything that has been on the stove all night. Here left overs are put into containers and maybe left on the stove top for a couple hours in case someone wants to heat up some more. After that they go into the fridge. We may eat them again for lunch the next day. If there is a lot like soups I freeze, I have a friend that barely makes enough to buy food after her rent and bills are paid, most go to her when she comes over. I put them in quart baggies or small container, just enough for her to make a meal out of. She loves it when she comes to our house. Hubby always makes more so that she always has a meal from what he cooks. We do not waste food, at the price of groceries, now a days it is hard enough to get all that you need to keep you going especially if you are on a fixed income. Reminds me of a woman that we went to visit one time, we was drinking coffee in the kitchen, her hubby wanted breakfast. She reached into the sink where dishes stood in water from the night before, pulled a skillet from the bottom, ran a paper towel over it and said would you all like some eggs. HE*LL NO!

I'm glad to see that everyone who responded did not leave the food out and then proceed to eat it the next day. Thank you for responding.

hi lilin1123,
you do not know about the position of the people in some countries of Africa, small children are dying due to mall nutrition,in our home we made enough food,if some thing left, we put in the Refrigerator and re heat it and then eat,in our olden days in villages, we do not know preparing brakefast, people intentionally cook more rice, and preserve it directly or in some water, the next day all are eating the rice with curd/butter milk,in summer days it is safer food to the village people, now most of the people will make brakefast, some poor people will do like this

Well this is not a poor country or family they cook the food and then leave it out all night and the next day then proceed to eat that night for dinner. They could get food poisoning doing this. The food should be put in the fridge then reheated. Thanks for responding.

I always cover my leftovers even if they will be left for a very short time. Some leftover, I can leave outside the frdge covered in Winter if I´ll eat it the next day. With fried rice , nothing happens at low temperature. I don´t have Central heating in my house so the kitchen is almost as cold as the fridge at night. Meats stay in the fridge. And I take care specially of freezing some food if I won´t eat it soon.

Yes in the winter it may be ok if your place is cold over night but when its summer time and you are leaving things outside overnight you are looking for food poisoning. Thank you for responding.

It sounds like a case of food poisoning waiting to happen. There is no way that I would eat that. Mine go in the refrigerator and we eat it within a couple of days.

Me to and if it isn't eaten by the end of the week it goes into the garbage. That doesn't happen to much though. Thanks for responding.

For left over food, you should cover it and put in the frig. I always have left over food but I always prevent it from germs, so then my family can eat them later on. I dont mind to eat left over food but if someone bring me a left over food from restaurant then, I will not eat them. Another thing, I never bring someone left over food either... I will bring a new food to someone that I want to bring, but from the same plate you just ate ???? NO

Having had food poisoning several times in my life, I am very careful with the care of our food. I put it away still hot and make sure utensils are clean at all times.
It just isn't worth the chance that I would make some ill with my food.

Ewww! That is sooooo unsanitary. Food has to be stored at proper temperatures or bacteria runs rampant, not to mention bugs, rodents and assorted other pests. That makes my stomach do back flips.

Eeeww. They must love "pickled" chicken -rofl-!
We usually try to cook just enough food for a meal and in cases that we get leftovers, we keep them in the fridge. If the leftovers are like fried sausages or the like, we usually add them to the fried rice, throw in a bit of chopped cabbage and egg; and it's like we got yang chow rice for breakfast =)
