seems like some people go to fast when writing on the web and misspell words or they can't spell very well.do you get upset when you see it or do you try to figure out what their saying?do you respond to them in a nasty way?does it matter to you much?sometimes when i'm tired i misspell words but i don't care as long as they can get the meaning of what i'm saying.how do you feel?does it bother you?

It really doesn't bother me. We can all make typos or spelling mistakes. There are people for whom English is not a first language; people at different stages of education; different ages; differing keyboard skills etc. Its usually fairly obvious what the person posting meant and I'm more irritated by the self-satisfied 'spelling and grammar police' who take it upon themselves to nit-pick. It's about content and opinion here, not a GCSE test paper

I agree. I'm from Belgium myself, and English is my 3th language. I don't really suck at it, partially because of the spelling control on my firefox, but you know I might misuse words like "then" and "than" or "they're" and "their" that kind of stuff. But I do try to be as correct as possible.

There are a lot of different reasons that a person might misspell a word. One might be because they aren't very good at typing. Another might be that they aren't very good at spelling (that would be me). However, there is also the factor that not everyone is a native English speaker (writer), which makes spelling even harder. It really doesn't bother me when people make mistakes, after all it isn't like they are getting graded on their work and there are times when I probably make mistakes as well :P.

i don't really care about grammatical spellings when i am on mylot, all i do is read the whole thing and then try to grab the intentions of the writer without minding his or her grammatical errors, i also give my response according to what the message says and i am not here to see to grammatical spellings, just anyone can make such mistakes

it's never ever an issue for me.. since i am from a country that english are not my first language, i always try to make my post very easily to understand. yup there is still lot of mistake i've made, but i always try to improve. misspelling not really bother me, the most important that became my problem is when somebody got misunderstood bout what i'm trying to say.
this topic and most the responses make me more confidence to write more, thanks...

I just go with it . Because most of the people have this problem of lose-sync with what they are intending to type and what they are actually typing. But they need to read it once but all people are not patient enough to do so.I hope it doesnot misspell to such an extend that it changes the actual meaning of whatever you are trying to tell.

I am slightly finicky about spelling and punctuation but I also understand that everyone is different. Not everyone is as great with their spelling and grammar. I'm not even all that great with my spelling and grammar although I'm constantly trying to improve myself. I try and understand what another person is trying to say instead of getting frustrated. It would make another person feel very bad if I lost my patience with the way that they spelled. Instead, I try and understand what they are saying, and if possible, I try and offer to help them. That is just me and my opinion though. I understand how some people would find it very frustrating.

Personally I hate bad spelling. I always think that it is important to project a good image and to me, lack of care over spelling indicates a lack of care in the personality as a whole. Spelling is very important to me (although I appreciate that it helps that I am good at it!).

My teacher back in grammar school emphasized the importance of correct spelling. It clarifies what we exactly mean. That is why we have to check and recheck our spelling. We can forgive people who uses English as a second language if they sometimes don't get the spelling right. But for the English and the Americans, hey, this is your language and must be given respect. It is easy to delete if you committed a typographical error. But you owe it to others to give them the correct spelling. No ekimflow, being tired is not a reason to give a substandard kind of writing. Somebody said...Of all the arts in which the wise excel, nature's chief masterpiece is writing well.

I honestly don't despise misspell. I sometimes do that when I'm tired lololol. But it does bother me when it happens not just once or twice, but almost on every word. It makes me harder to understand their sentences. worse, it often happens when I chat with this particular friend of mine. He does misspell and I often don't understand a damn thing about what he was talking about. It's quite depressing though haha.

Misspelling, punctuation mistakes, run-on sentences drive me crazy. I am a bit of a proofreader. I have a low tolerance for errors. I am not perfect. I make mistakes myself but I do make an effort to keep it to a minimum. I hate that we can not edit our postings.

I wish I can but this would offend them if I try to correct their spellings. I really don't bother with spelling mistakes as I often make a lot of grammatical mistakes and typo errors. Only after posting that I realize I noticed the mistake.

No, it does not bother me at all...Everybody makes mistakes and it includes me too. As long as it is intelligible to me, its okay with me... I really do not care when I see spelling mistakes. It happens with me often when I type very fast...English is after all a foreign language to me and hence grammatical mistake are there in my posts.
I am just confused, does these mistakes reduce our earnings???

It only bothers me when I can't figure out what they are saying. Other times doesn't seem to matter. If I can't figure out what they are saying I just leave it alone.
