hi friends.today i got this news from a certain news channel.it reads as follows: the ICC chief Morgan hinted of 4 day test matches to save the format [b] though i initially thought this idea was good,it wont take them much long to reduce it to 3 days, then to 2 days and make it a one day match.just a thought. the one and only good thing about T20 cricket is some T20 players play in test matches too and we have seen that the run rate has increased a lot.but if they make it 4 day test match, that means 360 over match players wont find it very easy. even during 5 day test matches,we dont get to see both the innings from the 2 teams .so if it is a 4 day test match,we wont get any results other than draws. ask the test bowlers if they can bowl out a team within 90 overs.all will answer in negative a piece of advice to Mr.Morgan. INSTEAD OF HINTING AT 4 DAY TEST MATCHES,TRY TO CREATE SOME GOOD PITCHES ( SOME PLAYERS DID VOICE OUT THAT TEST MATCH PITCHES LACKS QUALITY ).PITCHES THAT ASSIST THE BOWLERS A BIT MORE THAN FOR THE BATSMEN AND YOU WILL GET RESULT AND THE PUREST FORM OF CRICKET WILL REMAIN PURE FOREVER. ofcourse i am not talking about the umpire referral system which is to be made permanant in a few weeks.

Hello friend, I also read the news on the internet and I do not feel very happy about it. Test cricket is the purest form of the game and it should not be tinkered with too much. The referral system and all was an okay experiment but to change the duration of a game... it's too much I think. Had this been the case a decade earlier then we would not have seen those great partnerships from Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman battling it out the whole day and many more feats like that. I am totally against four day tests, no matter what it does to the t.v. viewership.

You cannot curtail the duration without making alterations to its format to ensure Test matches are more result oriented . Maybe make the pitches more bowler friendly or introduce some other innovative measures . Otherwise there will be a plethora of draws that will farther dissipate thealready dwindling public interest about this format

I have also heard about this. In those cases there will be less results of the matches and mostly draws. ICC is changing so much. But real quality is tested in test matches only.

Even i am not in favour of four day matches. It will only be possible to get results more often if teams are willing to take the risk of losing. Let me explain what i mean to say. Many times we have seen a team declares in the second innings after they have batted the other team out of the match. In other words they prefer to draw the match than to go all out for a win. In four day matches team will have to risk losing if they declare which i doubt anyone would like to do. Sometimes a draw is as good as a win in a test match. Teams try and draw a match so they can win in the matches to come. In four day matches this could happen a lot so instead of getting a results most of the time we might end up getting to see a lot of drawo matches.
