busky5, I have had a paypal account for a few years and have never had a problem with it. I did have to consult customer service once because I received a bogus email from someone who was trying to fisch into my account. With their help, my account remained safe and secure. I am, so far, a satisfied customer.
I have an alertpay account too but have not used it as of yet so I cannot provide a review of their performance. I am sure you will get lots of info from other mylotters re: alertpay.
Hope was helpful.

Most people use Paypal I'm sure haha but I trust paypal way more then I trust Alertpay. Not trying ot say Alertpay is bad but I only use paypal and so far it's good I like the interface and it has a good look too it and it seems like they will keep your information safe and stuff.
I think it's good site and it will hold you money and it's not a scam.. Plus it's cheaper and you save more money when you payout and send money to your bank account or by mail. Compare to Alertpay. ;)

I have paypal and its extremely trustworthy. *Just keep in mind they have a VERY strict TOS. They have an entire department who check accounts over 1,000. So NEVER have more than 1,000 if your using any moneymaking sites. (as most violate the TOS)If you do your account will be come "limited"
Alertpay on the other hand... Not as secure. Beware that checks and bank transfers are ALL by hand. SO your information is at the mercy of the employees. I do NOT like providing this service with my info. I recommenced a check (costs $4) as its it keeps you secure
