This is an offshoot from my friend's discussion.
Have you ever put nail shines on your partner's toe? Or if you are girl, do your spouse put on nail polish on your nails?
I ask this because, one of my friends finds it ticklish and another friend of mine thinks its not right and another feels that's how she dominates over her boy friend, another thinks that her husband messes up but still tries his best and there is one, whose husband never did that, thinks he is a moron!
So, I guess, you know what I want to ask you all.
How do you all feel?

As long as my Wife's perfectly happy having not just her nails but most of her fingers painted as well, I'm more than happy to help her put nailpolish on! The fact of the matter is that I have good intentions at times and WILL try, but I truly DO suck at it. I have enough issues painting a wall properly, let alone a nail!

I haven't done this to my partner since he thinks real men should have clean bare nails but he did put some nail polish on me one time when we were about to go out and my manicure was a mess. It actually felt nice and I was giggling all the time and he was motioning me to keep still so that he could put it on properly. It was a sexy feeling and romantic for me...

I don't know where am I to place my position in your question which is my status not in your list. But, miraculously your discussion title espied my attention and edify my insight to tell and share my answer...hahaha!. OK - as a single parent, all personal things done on my own; cut, polish, and moisturize my nails. I learned it during my first manicure session from one superb manicurist in town.
How do you all feel?
Ohhh...what a sigh, my heart whispered "ssshhhh" and wheedled "don't tell mimi1911, am shy". I think my heart coy...hahaha...next time, mimpi1911; may be.

Awwhh....being single I can relate to your thoughts. Only thing I didn't get the chance to learn from any expert manicurist!

Firstly, you are not an oldie! And secondly, you method of learning is exemplary. I have found you very evocative, helpful and methodical in every forum I know you.
Thanks for being my friend.

hahaha...not much to expect good and sumptuous ideas from an oldie like me, 48 year-old. Fortunately, my brain still working very well. I went to professional manicurist, actually, want to learn their methodology of manicure. Just for one time, once I got full set of its procedures and methods in mind, I do it on my own. That is the way how I take my learning process on new things from one Professionalist.

My Husband painted my toe nails once or twice and it was messy, but I leave it as it is and just wear close shoes, lol. I find it hard to put nail polish on my left hand and I can't remember if I have asked him to do it for me because I know it'll be messy, lol. I think the time he did put nail polish on toe nails is just for fun.

Hahaha...
Even I have a problem putting ion on my toes and right hand nails. I am not good with it and anyone, slightly artistic, would do better. Wearing covered shoes is a good idea!

I have not had the opportunity to do it Mimpi, but i must tell you i have thought about it. If I ever get the chance I would like to try it out. The slow application of the nail polish remover to remove the old polish, then the process of choosing out the right nail polish colour for her (my choice of course) and then the gentle application of it, stroke by stroke, blowing on it to make it dry.
A smile on the face, mine atleast once done and photograph surely to follow of the first nailpolish that i have applied.
And then when i'm in a playful mood, comes the splash of colours, the designer mixes and the stripes of multicolours which follow.

I didn't know you were so romantic!
I think, choosing the colors that suit each other is a great way to be together and guess even if you are fighting you cannot even run away!

There are some who would laugh at it, but not me, because i've always thought that the some of the precious moments in a relationship are when you are doing simple things together and for each other. Be it applying nail polish, brushing the hair and it's along list actually.
Well women too cut thier partner's hair, try thier hand at shaving, putting on a tie and more.
It's the thought and the doing together which is special.

The thought itself, of doing stuffs together makes it so special. I love small small wee stuffs and I feel they are essential to nourish a relationship.

Hi Mimpi! I have brittle nails and half the time they would be halfbroken. There is no scope for polish. Even if I had had good nails what you have suggested is something beyond the imagination .[Perhaps your father and mother may also talk like me because we belong to a different generation altogether. EVen henpecked or doting husbands of our times may not have done this particular thing . I really doubt it.

You know what, I haven't heard my mom or dad calling each other by their own names!! For along time, I used to think that that'sthe way it should be and it is every where. It was the time when I had gone to Delhi to my uncle's house that I realised that things are so different in other parts of the world! My Mamiji was bindaas in calling my Mam by his name and they were so different!
So, I know exactly what you mean. And I guess, your kinda love is beautiful in the coyness and the way you have shaped it.

What a sweet comment! As you have rightly pointed out I do not call my husband by his name and he does it on the rare occasion[when I am very far away or something but we do not have a problem like that. At least I would scream from inside the kitchen ' Roti is readeeeey' ;[not go and serve as a docile sweet thing] he would not scream out my name and he would come to where I am and then tell me something when he has an issue to convey. On the other hand my motherinlaw used to call my fil 'Raj'in a very coy tone [in her good mood ] long back. I would keep teasing my fil about how romantic they are.[now he is 87 years old and I still say this]

My husband doesn´t put polish on my nails but sometimes, when I am doing ail art, he helps me with the fiddly painting bits as it can be quite difficult. I don´t see this as girlie or odd as it is artistic and skillful. I have a photo of my nails when he helped once and will try and upload it for you to see.

I have never painted my husbands nails he never would have wanted me to lol. An ex let me paint his nails black when I was a teenager. I thought it was really hot. My friends and I used to paint each others nails but I was better at it then they were. When I was pregnant with my daughter reaching my nails to paint them was really hard so before my baby shower I had my husband paint my toe nails for me. He did a pretty good job. I took a picture of him painting my nails. I thought it was really nice that he would do it for me and really dont know why other husbands wouldnt help their wives if they needed it. Its not like its girly. Men paint cars and what not so why not their wives nails if they need help.

He did once couple weeks ago but that was just for testing - because I bought a new blue color nail polish and I asked him which one looks better on this clothes so he tried it on my nail, oh God... he painted it so ugly haha :p he was like realling painting on the wall that kin of painting... made my finger painted as well... that was just for fun more than anything, I don't think I would even let him paint my nails even he pays for doing it! :-p

Hello mimpi,
It is a really cute discussion. Though I am a male, I have observed many females around me to answer this question. There are different kinds of people and I think most of them do help their girls with the nailpolish and other cosmetics.
Cheers!

I do not have this opportunity as I am not married or into any relation. It is nice way of bonding through these small work or gestures.Once I felt very awkward. I was n different city for my job. One afternoon I was applying nail polish on my toe nails. I heard the calling bells. I answered the door and it was a friend of mine.I asked him to come inside as he wanted to talk something about work. I kept on listening and applying nail polish. He suddenly told me, Can i apply it on your nails. . I was just dumb and said him no, I am ok with it.

I think, he was trying to be close with you or the way you were applying it was quite intriguing for him! No, I don't think you did anything wrong.
How are you dear?

I don't do my own nails let alone a man do them. I work he works and we both have messy jobs. why bother when it just comes off right away anyway. So no man has ever done my nails. And no I don't want one doing my nails. My back and shoulders yes. Brush my hair as it is relaxing. Nails no not so much. You have a great day. Your friend onlydia

Hi dear mimpi, the idea never came to me, honestly. My relation with my partner is not a new one and perhaps a pattern is already set and we are almost sure what to expect from the other. In this situation it is not even possible to give it a try. Oh! how nice it would have been had you posted it a few years back. LOL
However, it gave some idea to think of new things to add spice to the already well cooked relationship.
Good luck

No he doesn't - he doesn't like the smell. He does however, likes to drop me off to get my nails done. And he also likes to nail-art stuff on my nails.
And he likes to massage my feet. When we're watching TV, he just sort of picks them up randomly (when I least expect him to) and starts massaging. MMhhhhhmmmm!!
Yes I know, I'm very lucky.
