What fruit does a fruit salad just have to have in it?

I have made many a fruit salad in my day. I have always had to have grapes, cantaloupe, strawberries, pineapple and tangarines in it for it to be the real deal. What makes it good for you? It would have to have this ingredient in it for it to be a good fruit salad.

CE- The fruit salad's I've had in the past had pineapple, apples, manderin oranges, coconut, marshmellows, cherries, and a sort of whipped topping dressing mixture. I would think that anything with fruit would be acceptable for a fruit salad. I've since then experimented myself and had lettuce with fruit and balasmic dressing. I also love having fruit with cottage cheese and lettuce. I prefer Romaine myself, but when the cut is on, I fall back to iceburg (as it is generally less expensive), but my first go is a spring mixture if I can afford it. And I love all fruit, save pears which I'm allergic toI think mangos would make an excellent addition! Namaste-Anora

The fruit salad you described first was called Glorified Rice by my grandmother and had fluffy white rice in it as well. Yes, mangos would be good in it. Even in the Glorified one. I think blueberries might be good also.

Oh wow, I have learned something new. I would never have thought of putting rice in it, but that does sound yummy as we cook with rice quite a bit. And we should be getting our blueberries daily so that does sound like it would be good. I generally reserve my blueberries for pancakes, a weekly treat here at the house.

You put some coconut and it will adds more taste to your salad. Now I miss to eat friut salad. That was months ago since I eat salad. Its too expensive to make and complete friuts on the ingredients. But hope so soon I can make too.

Yes, if I have shredded coconut on hand I always put some on the salad. It really does add flavor.
