Do you lie to your friends?

I've lied to my friends before to spare their feelings but I usually don't lie to them because I'm a pretty honest person. I only lie if it will keep someone from getting hurt. Do you lie to your friends?

I have to confess that I lie to my friends very often, but most of them came from a good intention.
In my opinion, friend is someone who can share the your happiness and sadness, and comfort your misery. So it is indispensable for a friend to lie sometimes. By tell a white lie, you can feel better and go through your hardness easier. I mean sometimes, facing a very difficult situation all by yourself may lead to a more difficult one, but facing it with a friend who comforts you and tells you that the hardship is far easier than you think of , you may pay more attention to the bright side of it.

I don't lie to my friends about anything. From huge things to even the little things like whether they look good in a certain color or whatever. Its not that I am mean about it or anything, I show candor. But I would hate it if they did it to me.

Because my friends and I are a pretty close knit circle, it is near impossible to get away with telling a lie; no matter how small or insignificant. I am pretty fortunate to have open-minded friends to whom I can tell the truth without fear of being judged but sometimes everybody likes to elaborate about how much money they earn or exactly what they did on that last summer vacation. I have trust issues because of friendship betrayals in my past and so I try to remain as honest as possible to hopefully encourage the same behaviour in return. I would never lie about anything that could have any kind of possible repurcussion. In my experience, the truth always gets out anyway and so it's best just to be honest all of the time.
Even in the case of sparing feelings. I have been known to be upset with a friend but pretend as if I haven't been for the sake of avoiding confrontation but even that doesn't work. Even when the truth may hurt, it's best to get it out in the most direct way possible. It always hurts more when you hear things have been said behind your back or when you find out from somebody else that your friends haven't been completely honest with you. After all, we don't ask if our bum looks big in that dress for the fun of it, do we? And how much do we all hate our friends when we look back at the pictures and have to ask the question "Why did you let me wear that in public?!"
What always gets me is that age-old situation of knowing something that you know your friend won't appreciate being told but also won't appreciate being kept a secret. When somebody figures out what you're supposed to do then, I'd love to know!
