I've heard that all of us dream each night, but that many of our dreams we do not remember. I've also read that if we write down what we DO remember of our dreams as soon as we awaken, we are apt to remember them much more vividly.
Some dreams I've had stick with me, no matter what. With others, I do tend to forget the details shortly after I awaken.
Do you remember your dreams when you awaken? Do you write them down or keep a dream journal? Does this help you in any way?Karen

Hi Karen!
Good Discussion!
I usually see dreams and dreams in my sleep (otherwise I am day dreamer also). If any dream is bizzare I do not forget it easily atleast when I get up in the morning and I do see unusual and bizzare dreams. However, I do not note them down anywhere. I am not sure if remembering our dreams or noting down them down really heop solve us some issue. But I understand that dreams are symbolic and we see them so that our hidden desires in our sub-consious mind could come out, when we are fast asleep. It is a way of letting our pent up emotions come out, which otherwise may not be possible during day time. I just forget those dreams the next day. I am not aware if some people keep a diary of their dreams by noting them down.

Hopefully, those books would be quite interesting. I have not read any such book so far. Would like to read, whenever I get a chance.

Yes, the one my daughter got me was very interesting and helpful in explaining what different things in a dream might represent, especially when we don't understand them.

LOL Deepak. I also am a "day dreamer" as well as having dreams when I sleep. Yes, they are supposedly symbolic of things that go on in our lives, and also, I have read that it is our minds way of trying to work out a problem or understand a thing. They sell actual dream journals and books that explain what various objects or types of dreams mean. So some people write down what they dream. Thank you for responding :)

Hi Jill...I think many don't see a lot of need or sense in writing down dreams. I did it to try to figure out the ones that made no sense, since in dreams, the experts say some things are really symbols of something else altogether. :)

That's ok...I suppose to some, it wouldn't make a lot of sense...it just depends on the individual :)

This is a good idea Karen. I think I should start doing it from now on. I hardly remember my dreams and sometimes I remember them after a long while but fail to recollect the whole dream and also when did I see it exactly.
Keeping a chronology of our dreams is a great idea. Some dreams are beautiful and i want to remember them forever. But the ones which are bleak, I would rather forget.

Hello Mim. Yes, there are supposed to be some benefits to be gained by keeping a record of our dreams. Oddly enough, like you, I'd love to forget the bleak dreams or the nightmares, but they seem to be the ones I'm likely to remember best for far too long!

Hi Arcidy. I think it's the great or scary dreams we do remember best simply because we have them so seldom...makes them stand out. Most of us don't remember some of our dreams...I think that is normal. :)

Hi Fifi. That is how it is for me, too. And the best time, as you say, is to write down a dream while it is still fresh in our minds. I also like trying to figure out what some of the mysterious things in my dreams mean :)

Hello Koala. What a great idea, to text your dreams to yourself. I've found it interesting to keep a journal and then go back over it later to remember my dreams :) Thank you for sharing your method of doing that.

Hello Ahmadosama. You're right, while most dreams we tend to forget, some make such an impact that we cannot forget them. I do know from what I have read that dreaming is a healthy thing. I wonder if that applies to nightmares? Thank you for your response :)

I can remember some of them, but I never write it down, I will tell my friend or my sister about my dream, if the dream is a funny one, I will share the dream to my friend, if the dream is about my family, I will tell my sister about that, but sometimes I know I have a good dream last night, but I just forget the dream.

Hello Kindy. Many of us seem to share our dreams with others. I often tell mine to a good friend so we can have a laugh or figure out what they might mean, and he tells his to me. Have a great evening.

Hello PeacefulWmn9, I rarely remember my dreams. Last night/early this morning I did remember what I was dreaming about. My b/f reads dreams so I will be telling him about what I dreampt. It was a vivid dream so I have to give the details to him so he can give my reading.

Hi Ds. How nice to have a boyfriend that is knowledgable about interpreting dreams! The vivid ones seem to stay longer with us. Most dreams, we either do not recall at all or have only a vague recollection of them. :)

I don't write journal about dreams, but i do remember certain things in my dreams - especially when it goes on like Deja Vu. You know, you go to some places and then you remember you have seen this place in your dream couple of days/weeks ago, and to make it worse, you know which way to go? Thats what i mean.
I also tend to write notes if in my dreams i am flying, because some of the time the places i visited in my dreams while flying was not yet visited, and after that i've explained to you on the first part.

Hello Andiel. Those Deja Vu dreams are a bit scary! It makes one wonder if they have a bit of a special power. But I've had that happen too. From a child, I've experienced the dreams of flying. I think it is interesting the way your dreams seem to foretell a thing sometimes. I appreciate your sharing that.

A friend of mine actually purchased me a dream diary a few years back. I used to keep it by my bed and record the weird scary dreams I had.
It is so interesting to look at the crazy avid dreams that we think up when we are sleeping.
I highly suggest writing them down, they make for an interesting read later.

Hello Carlas. This is when I first began writing down my dreams, too, when I received a dream journal as a gift from one of my daughters. I have since read numerous times that the practice can be quite interesting and even enlightening. And yes, it makes for great reading down the road a ways lol.

Hello Aira. Like you, I have a few dreams that are stored in my mind, but those are the ones that have frightened me, so I'd rather they go away.. The beautiful ones that I eventually forget are the ones I'd rather keep. Thank you for responding.

I remember about half my dreams...? I find that if when I wake up and I go over the dream in my head I will remember it quite vividly but I have never written them down before. I also find sometimes that half way through the day something happens that sorta jogs my memory - and a dream will come flooding back that way. I quite enjoy my dreams, the are usually quite bizarre. I am always amused at what my head comes up with when I dream.

Hello FFFrocks. I love the interesting facet of some of my more unusual dreams, too. Makes you wonder, now where did that come from? The human mind is an amazing thing, even as we sleep.

For awhile, I wrote down my dreams when I woke up. I heard you can have your dreams interputed if you right them down. But I n ever did that and I quit after a few weeks. I do remember them more when I first wake up. But no, writing them down did not help me in any way.

Hello Marty. I used to write out my dreams, too, and what helped most was having a book that explained how things in dreams are not always what that seem, that one thing might represent something else. It did help me understand the reasons I dreamed certain things at time. Thank you for responding.

I don't remember the dreams always, but sometimes. I think if we see a dream almost dawn then we can remember it. I had a bad dream yesterday also. I have never written down any of my dreams. I think it is a good idea to write down dreams. After long time when you go through that, it will be fun. Thanks for the idea. Today onwards I decided to write down my dreams.

Hello Daliaj. Like you, I tend to remember some dreams but not others. It would be interesting to keep track and read them years later. Dreams are supposed to have particular meanings for us, and it might help us better understand certain struggles :)

There are dreams that I can vividly remember but I don't write them down. Sometimes I wonder what the dream mean, especially when it's about the people I know. It usually stays in my mind for a couple of days and then sooner or later I would forget about it.

Hi Giada. I've had the same experience, where I'll remember a dream for a couple of days, but then forget it with time. The ones that seem most often to stay with me are nightmares! I appreciate you responnding.

I have kept dream journals since I was about 15. There are some great sites on line to find out what your dreams mean. Did you know that your dreams only really last about 15 to 25 seconds and not 30 minutes like the feel like. It is our brain playing a trick on us to help us sleep.

Hi Cookie. I used to have a dream journal and a book that explained dreams, but no, I did not know that they last only 15 to 25 seconds! Some dreams are so vivid and detailed that they seem to go on much longer. The mind is definitely an interesting thing. Thank you for your insight!

Hello Kawaii. I've heard we all have some dreams that we never do remember, or so studies have shown. I think it's great that you do remember most of yours. I used to write mine down, but that was long ago. Thank you for responding.
