I'll start Back-up files when I'm in college, all my files are save in drive C.
I have no Internet in my boarding house during my college years. I just go to the internet cafe and transfer the files to the FD or USB and in my own PC. I'll edit and read what I have been research then while busy the VIRUS attack my C files because I have no anti-virus that time and didn't expect all important files, pics and data are done when seeing the properties in the folder it is 0 bytes. Huhuhu a sad experience.
After that sad experience. I'll start back-Up my Files every week. I'll transfer the files to drive D. for the safe when need reformat my PC only drive C will lose.

I did many times even on my USB. I was very frustrated that i have lost very important files that i have saved on my USB. What had happened is that i have transferred some of my very important files on my USB because i often have problems on my computer when it was attacked by a virus. I have reformatted my computer so as to avoid losing files i have saved it on my USB. I never thought that it also possible to lost files on USB when one day i cannot open it, no matter what i do even on a different PC. I really don't know why but it might be due to over heat or it was dropped very hard. Its not my fault of course as it just happen after it was borrowed from me. I can't blame the person as i haven't seen it but i was really frustrated and feel bad about it. Lesson learned i should have back it up or saved it to my email and i should have not let it borrowed to someone that don't know how to take care of it. I am still bothered and feel bad whenever i remember it as i cannot able to retrieved my very important files that i should be needing as my requirements for visa processing. Anyway it happens and can't do anything. I just have to deal with it.

While you transfer it to usb the virus are included to your files for transfer, most people mistake on that because they not knowing after transfer into usb they sure the files are okey or they can open it to other PC. I had a experience also like that after burn into DVD I reformat my PC while I open the DVD huhuhuhuh sad to say can't open.

I think you have your problem resolved, i will just gave u some advices...
First of all you should buy an anti-virus in order to prevent virus attack.
There are many many ways of preventing lossing files my favourite way is to save them on an external disk but to prevent them to be deleted or managed i like o put them on a zip folder and put a password on it so that way the virus cant attack ur files because its blocked by your password. When I put a file in there i put it on a single folder with the same name of it this is just a way to put a password on a file :D but with the most powerfull virus that format disk and thing like that u will need an anti-virus, make sure u have the anti-virus updated on the computer that you have internet acess and on your own computer try to connect it when u wqant to get the updates. I think this will prevent that to happen again!

Yeah, it's quite obvious that mostly people loose the data while formatting the PC. I do keep backup of all the files. I have format 2 partitions instead of 1 before, at that time I had to sit for 2 days to recover my data.. :-) but yeah now I do take care of each and every data on my PC.

You must installing an Anti-Virus, it necessary. I have losing all of my files (system and database), and it not because of virus (That was because of my Windows is crashing). I have anti-virus can detecting all virus, but it not guaranty our files will be safe. You need backup to flash disk or CD-ROM or secondary hard-disk, and at least have DOS if your Windows has been damage.

It is better to have a monthly backup using a CD or DVD. Viruses can attack all partitions, meaning that you could also lose all data stored on Drive or Partition D. There are viruses which are specific in what they will attack.
If you insist on using Drive D as a backup, it may be prudent for you to install a software which can hide Drive D, or at least the folders on it. This minimises the risk of a malware attack, unless it chooses to format it. Do not forget to install a good anti virus and other security software.
As to your question, I have lost files before. Once due to a fire which razed the house down resulting in a loss of 3 PCs, and several times due to HDD failure.

Hi Char, nice to meet you.
Of course, all computer users have lost files.
Perhaps, you file a virus or in format by mistake. Moreover, you are using multiple computers with Flashdisk.
We recommend that your PC is in a partition into 2 drives, C and D. Make sure no antivirus on every PC you use. Don't forget to virus scan on the FD, before you use.
