What I've learned from this recession is that what they taught us in school was a pack of lies. I remember being told over and over again "Work hard, get a good job and you will be set for life". Well unfortunately this recession has high lighted that no job is secure and so you will never be set for life. It is more and more important these days to be permanently thinking about your next move when it comes to work, rather than becoming complacent in the same job.

i think one good thing to occur from the recession is that mp's have been highlighted to take advantage of their position and claim excessive amounts of money for things they should have paid out of their own pocket

Good day!
During the days of recession, i've learned to stick with my company for a little bit longer even though my mind say i have to go, finacially wise i still don't have that much savings to sustain my needs if in case i cant get a job after i leave. i also learned to be more thrifty. i tried to lessen my expenses so that i can save more since no overtime policy has raised in our company.
have a nice day!

In this reecssion I lerned a lot of things. I understood the importance of wise use of money in recession because there is a lot of uncertanity and unsecurity in your job. If you are rich, it is a nice time to buy a lot of things like properly, because the real estate prices have gone down. This is also a nice time to go for vaccation, because many hotels and airplanes are giving a lot of recession discounts.

general slowdown in economic activity over a sustained period of time is a recession. The recession is more effected when the rate of inflation is high. The High inflation rate with a recession is just as a wound and a pinch of salt on it. I do have some personal experience on coping with the recession.
First of all you need to decide between what is nice to have and what is need to have. Then you need to make sure that every money you spend on any thing should not go un-wasted. Try sharing common things with your friend. Like going to a juice shop and having half glasses of juice and saving few money for both. Dont go to movies and pubs often, rater than meet with your friends house and gather knowledge and share feelings.
If you are in job and you dont have work to do, instead of sitting idle try to do some quality adding work. try to update your self with the latest things.
There is a black spot every where. its on you how you see a white mark on the spot.

Hi Sonia!
You are right recent recession has made an impact on all of us. Some of the items and services are getting costlier and expensive. Many people, who are in the private sector are losing their jobs and salaries of many have been reduced due to recession. Employment opportunities are drying (specially in the private sector). I think those who are looking for jobs need to acquire more skills, experience and education to get good jobs. Those who are in the Government or semi-Government sector are on the safer wicket. We must always save for the rainy days.
Good Post!!

the greatest lesson i have learn't from this recession is that an individual need to have more than one source of income, without that one is actually taking a bad risk, the second source of income may not be as good as the main job but it can actually help in periods like this
@Soniasony (1827)

Different source of income thats a surviving note . Thats clever you mean to say we are just sharing the risks so they reduce during these times.

I think the most important thing that we all learn in this economy crisis is that bad things can happen and they just happen. In fact, if Lehman Brothers hasn't gone down, it may not have ripple to all other companies and that wee may not be seeing such a bad situation now. So, what we need to learn is that bad things can happen and they always will. It is just a matter of time and therefore it is important to be prepared for even the worst.

Well I have learned that I can be quite resourceful and conservative. Before the recession I used to buy everything I wanted and eat as much as I can and gave little concern for conserving .Lately however I eat much less and I turn off appliance such as my refridgerator when I am not using it and in general I spend much less

Hi friend. You are quite right.Recession has hit the whole market of the world to a great extent.Big countries like USA,UK etc also suffered a lot from the recession. In this recession period we must take a great care when we are out in the market.I am personally involved in online share trading markets so here are my few tips to reduce the effect of recession:
1. Proper planning is necessary whenever you go out in market for big purchases. If you had planned properly you will save a hard earned bucks of yours.Really so be planned.
2. Be updated with the ups and downs of the market. It will help you in a great deal to choose proper stocks.
3. Cost cutting methods should be used efficiently and properly.it helps in saving a few bucks.
4. Financial planning is of utmost importance. You must have some financial planning in mind to secure your future. If u are still not planned,Be planned. Its for your benefit.
5. Recession also hit me a lot.I had lost big money in market in the past few years but now i am recovering by taking the above factors into mind.I had started cost cutting and various methods to save my money.
6. Last but not the least I must say that Beware of guys who says that they will double your money. They are liars.
Happy Mylotting.
