Dear mylotters,
Few months ago, I started a discussion about the problem of my baby boy's snoring. We were so problematic about his noisy sleep and we can almost get some good night sleeps too.
I am so thankful for all who responded to the said discussion. It was so happy discussion, so lively and so helpful, specially to those who have sleeping problems, too.
And from that discussion too, we came to know about these sleeping problems, particularly sleep apnea.
Now, the problem is, when we brought our baby to the doctor, she also suspected that our baby has sleep apnea. So she advised us to see an specialist on that. And then they advise us again that to make it sure, we need to send our baby to the sleep test lab.
And there goes the biggest problem, we have no money for the lab services. We can't afford the fees.
So, what do you think about this? Can you advise anything about our baby's sleeping problem? Is there some other ways to cure this problem without spending big money, which we really don't have?
Neil

Dear Tamara,
We have been watching reports on TV about Sleep Apnea. And while we gather lots of information about it, my wife gets more bothered of our baby. I really don't want to ignore the situation but the problem is our finances. If only I have it, I'll not let my baby suffer. Some people say it's not going to be serious, but if it is happening to a baby, then that's another story.

Neildc,
I have conducted a lot of research on sleep apnea and I know that it can be fatal if the matter is not taken cared of immediately.
If money is the problem, you have to look for organizations that may help you right away.
I searched online, and if you live anywhere in the U.S., try to contact the American Sleep Apnea Association, I saw a page entitled sponsors in their website. May be if you can contact them, I hope they can help you. Otherwise, you may ask them for recommendations.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

hi josiedd,
money is the number one hindrance now, really. if only i have enough of it, the problem may have been resolved by now.
i posted a lot of threads about this, about my baby's problem. we were having fun listening at him, while he's sleeping. he really snores that loud. one says as if he's trying to raise the roof with his snores.
and with that first thread, i came to discover that it is not funny. and that our baby has a problem. and from there, we came to know sleep apnea.
it's good to hear that in the US, they have this American Sleep Apnea Association that sponsors patients. unfortunately, we live in the philippines and that would be very far from us to get their help.
i will try to search some more if there are organizations in our place that we can seek help for our child.
thanks a lot and bless you...

It is unfortunate that we live in a third world country where access to medical treatments are not supported by our government.
If you are serious in getting help for your child, it is possible to get help from local politicians. You can ride with the hype and buzz about next years elections by gunning to ask assistance from local politicians.
I know it is difficult but if you are serious, now is the time to move.
I have browsed the internet and Makati Medical, St. Luke's and Medical City all have sleep centers. If you can get information from there, probably a quotations or recommendation where the money needed would be stated. Then, that paper may work to ask help from those who wants to run for government office next year.
Your child's problem can be serious. While this is a possibility, managing his weight and making him sleep on his side may help lessen the sleep apnea attacks.
Just the same, I recommend you ask help.

dear josiedd,
i am serious about my son's problem, of course. but getting help from the politians is a no-no for me as i am a government employee. i don't want to be attached with anybody in the politics. i am serious, and that's why i make a lot of posts about this kind of problem. i also searched the internet and now i know that makati med and st. luke's have sleep centers. actually, in cebu there is also one, only one hospital that have sleep center, and there i get to know that the amount to be raised is 12T, the minimum. back to my posts in other sites, one abs-cbn production staff advised me, when she read my post, to bring the child to their center. she said they will look where they can help us. but only for the fare going from cebu to manila is a lot of money.
thanks again.

Hello there buddy,if your kid was really diagnosed with sleep anea disorder i guess you really need to seek medical help for this.Regarding with money problem if u were living here in MANILA i can advice you to ask help from UNTV37 they are giving free medical assistance,i am not sure to what extent they will be providing you with free medications, but i'm sure they will refer you to some hospital or doctors that won't ask for high medical fees. But if UNTV37 had all the medical treatment needed for your child, they will surely provide it for free.Since as far i know they are giving free dialysis as of now,and im not sure if their clinic is facilitated with machine your child needs.
