Need some help with Hosting information

I purchased one website from a forum. The website is on auto-pilot mode and has few ads from amazon. I wasn't aware that I would need hosting to maintain the website. Now the guy from whom I purchased the website wants me to provide purchase hosting services so that he can hand over the purchased website to me which is something obvious. I told him that I am a member of GDI and pay $10 every month to GDI and whether he can use that for hosting. He says he has no idea what GDI is about and asked me whether it is a hosting service or what so that he can set things up for me. I know GDI services can be used for this hosting purpose on the new website but I am not sure how to get started. What information do I provide to that guy so that he can set the website on my GDI hosting. Any help would be appreciated. I am a litte dumb on knowledge about domain and hosting stuffs.
